It brought a tear to my eye.

Every year I sit and watch the ceremony from beginning to end.

Some people may find spending 4 hours listening to 3000 names being read boring.

Not me.

I thought it was respectful and appropriate.

We were at a friend's house for dinner last night, four couples. Having a few beer and enjoying the end of summer, we're all retired but were working on 9/11/01. When we sat down to dinner we had a toast to those nearly three thousand people who perished.

It's interesting that we all had friends who were victims that day so I'm all for remembering the details. I was not alive on Dec 7, 1941 but I feel the same way about that date as well.

Different things appeal to us, I guess. I'm often "hit" by things that others don't even notice. The Vietnam Memorial in Wash, D.C did nothing to me at all but the Korean War Memorial really hit me hard... I usually don't like anything that intentionally tries to grab your emotions.

When I came back home from Desert Storm, I was riding on a flatbed in the Oceanside, CA "Welcome Home" parade and when we passed the Pearl Harbor vets, the old me stood at attention and saluted us. That really affected me, I bawled like a baby.

Nah, hokey, nice gesture, but not enough to get me choked up.

What really gets me it Taps and 21 gun salute at a military funeral. Actually, just typing it/thinking about it gave me the shivers.

Schmaltzy? Maybe....Hokey? Maybe. But I can not think of another major company's ad that at least paid homage yesterday. Well done.

(At least not as hokey as the horses playing football)

I applaud Budweiser’s effort.......I don't see anyone else taking the initiative to commemorate the event, so hokey or not I'd give them an A+ for effort, but I still won't drink their beer!

The folks that handle Budweiser's advertising have been the best for years.

What a waste of time that would have been.

First, I can't stand tear-jerker commercials. I find them extremely manipulative, often crass. But to try to make a profit from jerking people's emotions from the most impacting event in recent history to me goes well beyond bad taste. If they really wanted to do something to commemorate 9/11, leave the f#@king corporate logo off the end of the ad. And don't say 'oh, they're just trying to show respect' - bull*****. No company like Budweiser spends money to create and air an ad without sales in mind.

It would have been respectful and appropriate, but come on - this was an obvious attempt by a huge corporation to make a profit out of a tragedy. I'm sure to tons of impressionable television viewers, for a time Bud=Patriotism.

Advertising works; just look at Corona - possibly the worst large-market beer, and probably the best marketing department of any corporation. I KNOW it's bad beer, but when I see a Corona commercial, I kinda want one.

Funny. In California if you are having a big outdoor summer party with swimming, BBQ, etc., you better have some CORONA on ice. Crappy beer, but the adverts work.

I thought it was a nice tribute.

What bothered me was all the manufacturers that starting doing their ads in Red/White/Blue the week after 9/11.

And say what you will about the quality of Bud, there is no doubt that Bud is associated with the USA the same as Chevy, Apple Pie and Baseball.

I don' think they need to portray faux patriotism.

What really irritates me are all of the "patriotic" ribbon magnets that are made in China and the people who think they are being patriotic by having them on their vehicle. Just my .02 worth...

Either you drink budweiser, or the terrorists have won.

Seriously though.. I think if Budweiser wished to honor the memory of 9/11 victims, a donation to a survivor's fund, or college funding for victim's childrens, etc, would be a much better use of the budget spent on this ad. To me, any explicit correlation between 9/11 and a sales pitch (however reverent) is met with disdain for the marketer.

Yeah, it's a hokey commercial, but I can't think of another company that supports the troops like Budweiser does. All of their parks have a tribute to soldiers at each performance (Seaworld in particular) and they give free admission to troops on several days through the year.

Besides, who thought the horses kicking a field goal was high society?
