Joe is a pretty cool guy. I still have a friend who asks about him from time to time. He has that Doctor Phil thing going. If used properly it could get you laid!

lendaddy 09-18-2007 10:13 AM

I met a couple but one in particular stands out though I cannot recall his name as I was laughing so hard afterward that I flat forgot.

A few years back I was working in the garage on the 930 and I had a buddy that owed me some money working it off in the side/back yard doing some grunt work knocking down and old deck and cleaning the Vanagon. He's a total goof ball and he's got his shirt off (not pretty), sunglasses and a do rag on his head. He's got a portable radio blaring some club music and is singing and dancing away while he worked because he's a dork like that.

After a while he pops his head in and says "hey man, a red 911 just pulled in" to which I replied that it's just Kevin (a buddy of mine from down the road with a red 930) and I went back to work waiting for Kevin to come in the garage. Well, it wasn't Kevin but rather a fellow Pelican (again I can't remember his name) that just stopped by to say hi and check out the 930. He was very nice but seemed a little off-put or rattled as we made small talk and checked out each others cars. He said something like "well you look busy so I'll get out of your hair" or something like that and I shook his hand off he went. Like I said, it was a pleasant but sort of awkward meeting.

I mosey back to the garage to see my other buddy standing there with his arms out and palms up with a WTF look on his face. I ask him what's up and the following exchange occurred:

Him- "Why did you tell me that was Kevin?, that wasn't Kevin at all."

Me- "Yea I know, I thought it was Kevin but it's a guy from my Porsche board."

Him- "Did he say anything about me?"

Me- "no, why would he?"

Him- "Well....when you told me it was Kevin I ran out in front of his car and started dirty club dancing to the music and dry humping his fender. When I didn't get the expected laughter I looked closer to see a man I do not know slowly removing his sunglasses with a blank stare of confusion on his face. I was so shocked and embarrassed that I just slinked away behind your house without saying a word"

Me- [in tears]

So there you go, this is what happens when I meet fellow Pelicans.:) Now I'm hoping that he comes forward to confirm my story.

stomachmonkey 09-18-2007 10:22 AM

Have met very few Pelicans.

Hope to meet Lubbbie soon, I'm moving down his way if I can ever sell my houses.

Have met RoninLB and he is about as cool as they come.

Also Kurt AKA PJV911, he's a class act, good guy.

Lube,

If "that friend" is the young lady who was with us (the girl who works with you) then please feel free to give her my contact info. I am always open for therapy with young ladies... :)

Just found out that we are in NYC for another night... Wish I had known this beforehand as we could have tried for another Pelican meeting here. Oh well, life of being a taxi-driver with wings!

trekkor 09-18-2007 11:43 AM

I'm to be avoided....

Happily sold my 4Runner to Paul (Seahawk), who is a damn nice guy, but that's it. Not many of us out my way. Anybody want to come visit me in Wichita? I'll give you a ride in my, errrr, Silverado............damn it.

Overpaid Slacker 09-18-2007 12:12 PM

There's a good shot of my first encounter with tabdullah a few years back in this thread:

And Tami is from Wichita, introduced to me by kepperly on a visit out there. I'll make a trip back to Wichita w/o much arm-twisting.

It's absoutely true, I am. :D

Reminds me of an old joke . . .

A man stands up in the back of a saloon, drunk, and shouds, "All lawyers are A-holes!"

Another man stands up and says, "Hey, I resent that comment." A woman nearby asks, "Why, are you a lawyer?"

"No, I'm an A-hole" said the man.

I'll be here all week.

Everyone I've met from the board has been awesome. It's been far too long, in the fourth quarter we've got to stitch up a Pelican NYC outing. I'm WAY into Mike NY65912 for German Food and multiple beers so perhaps we can use that as an anchor for some Gemütlichkeit and some SERIOUS Porsche talk.

trekkor 09-18-2007 12:21 PM

There's a nice little group of us that get together for track days every month.

Vin and Joe,

Last minute I took a ride up to the Saddlebrook Marriott. Arrived around 7:15ish. Only saw a business type woman and a couple of guys that didn't resemble either of you. I'm guessing you all went for dinner. Too bad, hope to meet up another time.

The evening wasn't a total loss as I headed over to one of the six cigars bars left in NJ.

pwd72s 09-18-2007 12:24 PM

Len, you win the "post of the thread" award...Gawd, that's funny!

Should have put a smiley face on the post...the Middies still talk about your car and your guns: You made quite an impression. They all made it to the second year at the Naval Academy:cool:

Rick Lee 09-18-2007 01:00 PM

Hopefully, those guys will be in Porsches and on Pelican soon enough. And I bet they get to play with much better guns in the Navy.

I couldn't stop laughing while I was typing it out, the memory of my friends admission is still fresh:)

I give that guy much credit for still coming up to my garage after that display. I also can't believe he didn't say anything about my doofus friend. I wonder what he was thinking both during and after:D

Well, it was going to eventually come out so I might as well admit it. Vinnie forced me to go with him to the local Hooters, where we sat in the corner and did not look at the girls at all, talking only about cars, boats and such! :)

Thats my story and I am sticking with it! Sorry we missed you and wished I had known you were stopping buy. We did not leave until a bit late and missed each other by about 20 minutes.

Next time!

Yes, I had to forcefully drag Joe kicking and screaming from my truck. All the while he was babbling something about the exploitation of women or something like that.
It was not a pretty sight..:D:D

Rick, real sorry you missed us. Wish we would have known.

If I am here tomorrow night, can I force you this time to go back to the Hooters and try to relive the experience? :)
