Vista Recovery, no admin pwd
I am working on a dell notebook for a friend. I need to restore the vista from the recovery partition. I have accounts on the machine but no passwords. The system recovery demands an admin name and pwd. That person is no longer with us. should I put the drive in another machine and delete the windows folder so it will restore or what's the trick? I dont think I like Vista that well.

Set a password :)
http://home.eunet.no/pnordahl/ntpasswd/ Also, the Dell should have come with a "real" install CD instead of just the partition, and should have a license key on hte laptop itself somewhere... |
I already tried to reset it using an NTFS password revovery CD the reason it failed is because its a SATA drive and it didnt see it.

Try setting the SATA drive in the BIOS to Legacy mode if it's an available option.
We have the same problem when trying to image machines with older software. |
I think I'm getting it now

It unlocked.
Thanks a million guys, Keith |
