Smoked Meat in an Oven?

A work associate told me he smoked some Salmon in his oven this past weekend and said it turned out great - he didn't have any to share.

I figuered it would smoke up the house. He said it didn't - I call BS. Anyone know anything about using an oven to smoke meat it.

They have that liquid "smoke" crap that you pour on it. But I cant imagine regular smoking in an oven. Only other way could be putting wood chips in in foil under the broiler , but that would still make a ton of smoke.

I second the BS call.

I have heard of poaching salmon in the dishwasher on "Pot scrubber" cycle, but never smoking in an oven.

My oven is externally vented so it might work. Not that I'd ever try.

Bradley Smoker on the porch FTW!

would this work?

It can be used as a steamer, poacher and smoker. Yes, a smoker, and you don’t use any smoke flavoring. That true smoke flavor comes from natural wood chips that you put in the bottom of the pan. And here’s the best part - you can use this smoker right in your kitchen and your kitchen will stay absolutely smoke-free! Put the wood chips in the center of the smoker base, cover with stainless steel drip pan, place the rack on top of the drip pan and arrange the food on the rack. Slide the lid closed and place the entire unit on the heat source.
