Looking for travel ideas in Tanzania
Wife, myself and our 4 year old will be in South Africa next May. We were looking to tack on a week and go elsewhere in Africa. Tanzania seems to have a lot to offer, and is stable.(at least as african countrys go....).
We are looking for a safari type trip in the North in a nice lodge. We are not interested in roughing it in any way. Any help? Anyone know a good tour company? Thanks.

Sorry, can't help you in as far as Tanzania is concerned - but need for you to remember to give us South African Pelicanites a heads up of when exactly you will arrive on our shores!

Go to the CIA public website and check out the situation in Tanzania. I'm not sure that's a country you want to go to lightly. If you do plan to go I would monitor the situation closely. You'll probably get the best deals from a South African tour guide, but don't take any chances trying to save a few bucks. You might do better staying in South Africa and taking your tours there.

Never been in Tanzania, but many years ago I spend 3 weeks in Zimbabwe for a pistol shooting competition and I was really amaze by the country and the people. The game preserves are just incredible and Victoria Falls is breathtaking. Also I think that you can still take the Orient Express (of sorts) from South Africa to Victoria Falls.
Worth a thought .. Madagascar can be another option.

Friend just came back from a month long Safari in Tanzania. This year he went after Cape Buffalo, last year it was elephant. He loves his 505 Gibbs Double rifle. I know one of the things they do in country is take a hot air balloon ride over the Veldte. I have seen pictures and the view is magnificent with all the animals.
I know they fly into the bush for 2 weeks and stay at a PHs base camp, then they spend a week at a lodge that is actually quiet posh and then head off to Cape Town for a week or so. where they stay I just havn't asked.
