911 is the only model which ends in an odd number?

Best,

As plain as the nose on my face:eek:

The 944. The rest are all developments of, or decendants of the 356. The 911 of course was a new design of the 356, the 914 used the 356 motor, and the 996 claims to be the modern replacement of the 911.

Aerkuld 09-28-2007 03:25 PM

The 911 is the only one that has been sold with a different number than it's factory designation?

MysticLlama 09-28-2007 03:39 PM

How about the 914 being the only one that wasn't directly related to a Carrera?

356 - Carrera 4Cam Engine
911 - Carrera
914 - ?
944 - 924 Carrera GT
996 - Still Carrera

That's a bit of a stretch and outside the box.

mattdavis11 09-28-2007 03:44 PM

The 944 is the only one that has any reports of survivors in major crashes.

I agree, 944.

However the 914 did not use the 356 motor. The 914 used the VW Type 4, which was also used in the 912E. Someone else said that the Sportomatic was only used in the 911 which isnt true. A few 914-6s had a sporto.

idontknow 09-28-2007 03:48 PM

"911 was the only one that ever had SportOMatic"

There were some 4 sportomatic 914's built

I've been beaten by cheese!

idontknow 09-28-2007 03:53 PM

the 914, the only car never offered in cabriolet!

There were 944 cabs?

I don't recall ever seeing anything but a 968. Or were there 4 of them, like the 914 Sportos, whoops. :)

idontknow 09-28-2007 04:08 PM

in 89-91 there were 944s2 cabriolets with a total of 5640 made

Moneyguy1 09-28-2007 04:11 PM

OK....OK.....

I said to think outside the box.

All the designations can represent time on a digital clock except for the 996!!

No, that's not it. :D

The 914 was a VW in Europe, not a Porsche.

Moneyguy1 09-28-2007 04:16 PM

Designation...Rick...not for whom it was designed!!

scottmandue 09-28-2007 04:22 PM

3+5+6=14
9+1+1=11
9+1+4=14
9+4+4=17
9+9+6=24

Coincidence?

I DON'T THINK SO!

Moneyguy1 09-28-2007 04:28 PM

Awesome!!!

gprsh924 09-28-2007 05:35 PM

whenever someone asks me what time it is and i see that the clock reads 9:11 i respond, "Porsche time"

Aerkuld 09-28-2007 05:38 PM

Very appropriate thread for 9-28!

Flatbutt1 09-28-2007 06:17 PM

MRM 09-28-2007 06:18 PM
