External CD/DVD/RW for Apple G4

I have an earlier model Apple Powerbook G4 and it has no ability to burn CD or DVD's. Is it possible to buy an external drive so I can burn both music and video? I would like to be able to get a device that works on both Apple and microsoft laptop but really prefer using the Apple if I have to stick with one laptop for this application.

Hope I have adequately described the situation, just want to be able to make CD's and DVD's, can read them on the G4 now but not write(burn).

Thanks

Any external will work fine.

I would look for one that has Firewire and USB.

Your Mac has Firewire which yields more reliability. You'll want the USB for PC use, unless your PC has Firewire which is not usually a stock item on PC's.

Have one of these,

Firewire, USB, Dual Layer, reasonable price, name brand, have used on Macs and PC's with no issues.

stomachmonkey,
thanks for the quick reply, that's pretty reasonable. I'll try and do some additional research on the subject but really appreciate the good info.
