Moneypenny is no more

The original actress, Lois Maxwell who played Miss Moneypenny passed away at 80... last seen in A View to a Kill ( as Moneypenny that is), and if you ask me, none of the Bond movies after that one were as good as those with her in it... You can argue about which Bond, but imho, there's no arguing about which Moneypenny..

No argument about Bond at all, Sean Connery was the best but Daniel Craig was very good in the last one.

Sad to see Moneypenny go.... but its a journey we all must take eventually.

I have to say that I hated the last Bond film. It was too over-the-top for me. I didn't believe half of the stunts they did in that move. I don't like Daniel Craig either--he just didn't do it for me. Pierce Brosnan has to be my favorite Bond, with Sean Connery a close second.

Sad to hear about Moneypenny tho, she was great!

I understand that Daniel Craig is supposed to be Bond just starting out, but the whole "sensitive screw-up I'm just human like you" element was a bit too much.

Part of the allure of Bond (any of 'em) is the superhuman feats he pulls off. If I wanted to watch screwups I'd just go to the office.

Funny thing is that Daniel Craig did more of the really dangerous stunts that most of the previous "Bonds" would have done.

Always liked the "sexual tension/playful banter" between the two (Bond-Moneypenny) and really appreciated the fact that the screen play writers/directors/etc. never let it get to the point where they hooked up.

Or if they did (much innuendo) it was all hush-hush, like their well kept secret.

Classy.

mwah, i really don't care what the actor does himself
these days all actors claim to do all the stunts themself and what not
i couldn't care less, Bobo the Clown can do them for all i care, as long as the movie script is interesting, the acting is done right, and the stunts look believable or at least interesting

i'm with Randy P, this new Bond isn't it
he has more in common with a football hooligan then with a gentlemen superspy.

Fleming wrote it , and partly wrote it so Bond had stuff in common with him or who he wanted to be himself, a romanticized version of Fleming

this "should be closer to the Bond as Fleming intended" doesn't make sense to me.... anyone ever seen Fleming in an interview? i assure you, the latest version of Bond is not what comes to mind

Connery = Man's man
Brosnan = Dandy boy

No comparison.

Sorry to see Moneypenny go.

Lois was in more Bond movies than any of the actors that played Bond.

Exactly! Bond was Flemming's alter ego. And Flemming was an ultra conservative Torry who believed highly in the British Empire as the elite example to all the world. He'd roll in his grave if he could see what's been done to his character.

Moneypenny - a couple times I thought she and Bond came very close to "the deed," but alas, I don't think it ever happened. Right?

Agree about Moneypenny and I furtermore think the genuine Bond character was lost after Sean Connery. Later movies are not bad but some of that laid back, English upper class humor and stiff upper lip with a bit of innosense was lost.
