What laptop for racing sims??

What would you guys suggest for a laptop that will be used primarily for hanging around here, but also for running racing sims like GT Legends? Will also be using it a lot for digital photography. It doesn't need to be the best, meaning I am not willing to sell a Porsche to play Porsche video games, if you catch my drift. I know you guys know what works, and what's junk..

Jeremy - check out the Dell XPS laptops. I think a higher-end XPS model would work well for you. They're pretty tough machines too, which is good as it will be in a hostile environment such as TRE.

You want to make sure that the video card is not integrated.

I'll also need to be able to hook up a wheel/pedal system to it. And I have a pretty nice monitor for my current desktop, can it be used with a laptop?

Do you have the wheel yet? If so, what are the connections. Current laptops may not have a serial port. The monitor should be fine.

Dave

I am not a "gamer" but I do understand the importance of a strong video sub-system for playing. Take a look at a Dell XPS 1710. It has two excellent video cards choices and a good screen. And it can be configured with XP or Vista.

A new unit is pretty pricey so look at the refurb stuff too. You can get a Complete Care warranty like new units and be totally protected.

Thanks for the info guys. No, Dave, no wheel set up yet. So any advice on that is welcome too.

Alienware - now owned by Dell, but still every bit a thoroughbred gaming laptop. My four year old AW 7700 has had three video card upgrades at this point, which is a simple matter of removing a cover, and it's still a contender.
