Thanks, Art! A guy can never have to many prayers intended for him! :D

Jay, can't tell you how many times I went into the garage today just to have a look at my new ride. Soooooooooooooo tempting, but for now, I won't even let myself climb into the driver's seat! LOL

I'll be there on the dragon in November, count on it! :D

Very cool, Randy...glad it worked out. Percasets rule:)

rcecale 12-29-2007 06:51 PM

Percasets are definitely my new best friend! Following the docs instructions, taking them every 4 hours and I've had virtually no pain whatsoever.

Took the dressings off today and found 4 little "bullet holes", taped shut with steri-strips. I've got a tattoo of Yosemite Sam on that shoulder and it would appear he took a round right through the head! LOL

I still have to say, the most painful part of this entire evolution is the inability to take my car for a drive! :(

I go to my Doc on Jan 7th for my right shoulder. Randy's description is identical to my pain. I can't do squat with my right wing. Ugh.

Randy,
I'm glad you're doing well. I'm so far behind here that i didn't even know you sold the 911! What the heck happened? Are you still going to hang around here?

SXSMAN 12-29-2007 09:22 PM

Randy , glad you're doing ok .

I had surgery on my right shoulder and over-all it went well .

Shoulder is much better ( bad tear , big cut ) .

How ever , nerve was cut during surgery and I don't have 100 % use of my right hand (90%) , can't fully close my fingers/make a fist . I also lost 75% grip strength and worked very hard to get that back . I still work on it from time to time to maintain it. Surgeon kept telling me that it was how my arm was positioned on the table and it will get better . Liar .
For the most part I can live with it , but I've torn my left should and have been living with it for about a year .

Not sure yet if I'll have the surgery done because most of the pain I deal with is at night .

Plus I'm a little gun-shy to have the surgery done again .

It's good to hear positive stories about the surgery , I might have to rethink this .

And get a different surgeon .

Best to you and your recovery .

Check it out & let me know what you think.

Jay

Jay,

Is this road a different road that the Dragon?
http://www.pisgahinn.com/images/big_map.jpg

If so...WOW!!! I think you just might be able to count me in on that one too!

I've been showing my dad all about the Dragon, and I think he's getting hooked! He lives up in Detroit, but he's volunteered to be my navigator/wingman/co=pilot...etc, etc, etc...! :D I'll just have to pry him away from his dogs! ;)

SxS,

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience with your surgery. so far, I don't think I've had any problems. None that have caused me any pain or difficulties like you mentioned. so far, the only issue I've had is the excessive amounts of tears welling up whenever I look at my car! ;) Definitely give it another look.

Art,

Yeah, the Targa is basically no more. It's a long story, so I won't go into that here, but...I will be happy to tell you about the new ride.

Picked her up from white944cup in St. Augustine, last Saturday. She's a beauty!!! It just stinks that I won't be able to drive her for a couple more weeks, while my shoulder heals. I've kinda got a plan in the works to bring her Michigan way next spring/summer. Count on me dropping by when I get there! :D

to the original poster...I have had the same thing in both shoulders, but most severly painfully in my right...due to weight lifting and baseball.

Having heard horror stories from several people who had the surgery and came out of it worse...i decided to try the rehab-approach. This involves doing daily excercises with VERY light weights, designed to strengthen the small muscles around the tear and relieve the pressure.

Needless to say, several months of these excercises did the trick and now after a few years of doing the excercies...I am relatively painfree about 95% of the time...unless I sleep on it wrong or something...it took 3 months or so for the excercies to start to pay off big time. I still do them every other day now

if I were you, which IM not and it probably doesnt mean anything what i say..., but if i were...Id talk to a physical therapist or trainer before going to the surgery. good luck to you

Sonic dB 12-30-2007 02:12 AM

well the OP did the surgery...good luck with that, for anyone else with this problem consider the physical therapy with light dumbells first.

Glad to read that everything is going well Marine. I wish you a speedy recovery to drive your new car!

F*ck.

I'm reading this post, and I hate to say it, but it describes the pain in my right shoulder. Injured it weightlifting. Took three months off. Better, but still hurts if I lift.

REALLY hoping there is not an arm sling in my future.....:(

rcecale 12-30-2007 11:12 AM

HD, I hope you don't have to have this procedure done too, but something you may want to look at is, if you DO need it done, have it done in the "off-season". It's practically impossible to drive a manual with one arm in a sling!

Oh, and it could be worse....they could have taken the whole thing wight off!!! (Just kidding!)

Best of luck to ya!

Figured a couple of pics were in order... :)

I was scrubbing on my arm, trying to get it clean...then it dawned on me that this yellow area was a bruise! Runs from the top incision down to the blister on my arm (Not really sure about the blister either...wth? )

A closer shot of the entry point on the front of my shoulder...

The best shot I could get of all 4 entry points. Poor Sam had to suffer a headshot...! :D
