Putting a watermark on a photo
I have a friend who is wanting to put a watermark on a photo to identify it as his. Its of an antique airplane and he wants to share the photo, but does not want it going around the world without being attributed to his shop.
Any suggestions? He has Photoshop version 7.0. He looked in the help section but only thing he could find was that he had to buy some add on dohicky that cost him $70 or so and he wants to try it out before spending that kind of money? Thx, Joe |
I use Unidream Powerbatch....the freeware program and am pretty happy with it.

A watermark can be created in photochop.
Add a layer and either type your copyright info or drop in a graphic. Fill them with 50-60% black. Apply bevel/emboss filter. Set layer to hard light. Flatten image. If you have a bunch to do then record and save an action. After that you can run it as a batch on an entire folder. |
The better watermark software also embeds a digital signature into the file to identify the source. Something to look for when considering software. I'll look for what I used to use.

Add it as a new layer, with lots of transparency.
Also can be done programmatically via a script in PHP (or Ruby or Perl or ....) when it is served up from a webserver. |
Thanks guys, will pass it along!
