Trouble Uploading Pictures

Hey guys,

I'm having trouble uploading pictures. I keep getting the message that I have a browser problem or security settings are too high. I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.7. I've gone through all the options under the tools section, and I don't see anything that would block this. I don't have a software firewall on my system. My router acts as my firewall D-Link DI-604, but I have not changed anything there, and it used to work, so I don't think it's the problem. I'm thinking some Microsoft patch changed something. Anyone have any ideas???

Same here

I also use firefox and get the mesg. Just copy/paste the [...] under the message in your text box and the pic will appear. That's how I am doing it.

This has been a problem for RWebb and myself and we have another thread on it, but it seems to be ignored.

BTW, still having the same problem

I think it's a combination of the new Pelican BBS software and the new Firefox release. I just copy and paste the link into the post.

I was hoping to "fix" it so I did not have to do the cut and paste routine. At this point I'm just glad to hear I'm not alone.

you are not alone

sure wish Wayne would fix it -- or Firefox would fix it -- or whatever....

I am having the same problem, cutting and pasting sucks!

Have you tried using the IE Tab extension for Firefox? If not get the extension (tools: add ons: get extensions) install it and the next time a page doesn't load or display right in Firefox right click and select "view page in IE Tab". The page will re-load using the IE engine right in Firefox! This add-on will even let you use Windows Update using Firefox! Pretty cool little app.

Hope this helps,
Michael

One problem to this. When you switch over, you have to login to the forums again.

Wayne, It still prevents me from pasting automatically. Also, when I hit "Close Window" it closes the tab.

I'm not even getting the "error" window anymore and I'm using friggen XP/IE 7. Upload, a "flash" of another window and then just blank.

ANy help?

Still getting the error. Will keep "cut and pasting" until its fixed but would be nice to have it work the old way.

I think the problem is worse now. I have tried the tried and true FireFox, go to upload the selected jpg and the upload window closes with no image file path in the text window. Tried IE 7.x and the same thing.
Any ideas?

Wayne,
What it is doing now when a pic upload is attempted;
the pic is streamed to the Pelican server, then that window which notified the user that the image will have to be cut and pasted in the text window appears for a second and then it disappears. So all the responder has is the original text window with no image uploaded.

Found it!
Go into UserCP near the top of the Pelican Forums web page. Select "Edit Options" under Control Panel/Settings and Options. Go to the bottom of the page to "Miscellaneous Options" change the Editor to Standard Editor---Extra Formatting Controls.
I think there's a bug in the WYSIWYG Editor or how the WYSIWYG interfaces with Firefox. Anyway, this should get you up and running in terms of pic uploads.
