Garage Heaters??

Can anyone recommend a good garage heater? I have an attached, insulated, 2&1/2 car garage in Wisconsin (avg winter temps-20ish). I want to maintain about 50 degrees and use natural gas. As I understand it, I have two choices -forced air, like a Modine, or infra red.

TIA

I have the modine and it does the job!

I also have a modine hot dawg and love it in my 3.5 car garage.

Bob, why not just get a regular furnace? That is what I did with my garage.

I run K1 heaters in my garage but now I have our old house furnace to install in the garage.

If i had the head room I would go with the IR tube heaters which mount to the rafters and radiate down to the concrete. I hate having the garage 70 degrees but being able to see you breath under the car while you are wrenching.

Once I get out of school... Oh ya! new garage time :)

The temperature difference between ceiling and floor is the biggest issue. I'm right in the process of building an addition with a two car garage and I'm thinking of the alternatives. A friend has a large detached garage that he laid under floor hoses for hot water heating. Its really nice. The ambient temperature is around 60 degrees but it is mostly where you need it, on the floor.

+1 on Hot Dawg. 80,000 BTU's in a 2 car garage. Sometimes in the winter I open the garage door and stand in the doorway with my fists on my hips and say:

"Yes Dad, I am trying to heat the outdoors!" :D

That cracks me up Chris, we have a party in the winter some, and open the door to let fresh air in.
