Can you solve this puzzle?
 

If you’ve heard it before, or otherwise know the answer, keep quiet for bit to let others puzzle over it…

You are in a 12 foot square concrete room. There is a steel pipe 25 centimeters in length cemented into the center of the concrete floor. The pipe protrudes about 15 centimeters. A ping-pong ball is dropped down the pipe. There is a fraction of a centimeter clearance between the surface of the ping-pong ball and the inside diameter of the pipe. Your task is to get the ping-pong ball out of the steel pipe undamaged. The only items that are available are a wooden ruler, a ball of string, a pocket mirror, a paper clip and a small magnet. Since nothing else is allowed in the room, how could you get the plastic ping-pong ball out of the steel pipe?

Do I need to pee?

I looked the answer up online. It definitely wasn't what I was expecting.

Use the mirror to reflect light to warm the pipe. As the pipe warms it will expand to allow the paper clip with the string attached, and using the magnet to squeeze it past the ball. Once past, stop reflecting light, the pipe cools, and the string can be pulled causing the clip to push the ball out of the pipe.

How do you know the pipe will hold the urine?

No window is mentioned.

nothing stating urine will stay in the pipe.

There has to be an entrance to the room, hence light, or else, no one wouldn't be able to piss on the ball.;)

Doesn't say there is oxygen in the room, either, so you better work fast!
