Just skip through the commercials in the middle, as the interview continues toward the video's end.

slodave 10-11-2007 09:52 PM

Wow! She needs to fall off the Empire State building.

dtw 10-11-2007 09:55 PM

I enjoy her column but man she comes off as a real begins-with-C-rhymes-with-aunt.

dd74 10-11-2007 10:00 PM

I lost it completely with the Seinfeld reference. Everyone knows that show was about nothing. :D

Poor, poor Ann. So smart, so vociferous, such long wrap-em-round-your-head legs...

Gag her and she wouldn't be half bad.

This thread is going to get interesting.

Yeah, and to some Night Train's a wine.

nostatic 10-11-2007 10:20 PM

we should throw Judiasm away and everyone should be Christian.

She is a piece of work...

nostatic 10-11-2007 10:22 PM

"Christians consider themselves perfected Jews"

-Ann Coulter

You guys like her on your team, eh?

It seems she said she believes the world would be a better place if everyone was Christian.

I'm an atheist so I have no dog in this fight. (not a fan of Coulter, either, although I do admire her ability to promote herself and make a very good living). BUT, isn't that what pretty much all true religious believers believe? That the world would be better if everyone was their religion? That you are supposed to spread the word of Jesus, or whoever, to as many people as possible? (The ultimate goal, presumably, to convert everyone in the world, no?)

Isn't that why Mormons go on 2 year missions, spreading the word, JWs go door to door on their bicycles, Islam says convert or die, etc. etc. etc.

If you truly believe your religion is the ONE TRUE RELIGION and the only key to heaven/some terrific ever-lasting life, etc., it would seem a bit selfish if you didn't wish everyone was as enlightened as you.

I didn't hear her say she believes people should be forced to any religion, or prevented from believing what they believe. Just that as a Christian, she believes the world would be better off if everyone saw the light and was Christian. That doesn't strike me as a controversial statement at all, and one I would think that any true Christian would have to agree with.

Her whole schtick is self-promotion by making outrageous statements. I think it's very contrived.

It would be contrived if she didn't write and publish the same dogma as in the video. But no, hers is a belief system - a way of life "perfected" as it may be.

And there are many - thousands, millions - who knows - who on various levels side with her beliefs.

Hell, I saw some pot-bellied dude poolside in Kauai reading her "Godless" book, who looked up from reading only to give hateful looks at the lesbian couple sunning themselves a few chairs down.

All I know about AC is she has an audience. That's for sure.

Her belief that Christianity is the one true religion, and that homosexuality is a sin?

Yeah, I suspect there may be a handful of people in the world who side with those beliefs.

You can broadly generalize and be right and you can broadly generalize and be wrong.

Sure, a broad generalization says that all religions think they are it.

But because it is a broad generalization it is inherently wrong since there are always exceptions.

I don't feel offended by her comments but knowing the history of our planet they do scare me. Especially since I am a Jew and I know what thoughts such as those she has expressed can be twisted into. Nearly every religion or ethnicity out there has had an attempt made to deny its continuation.

I don't believe that my religion is the one true religion and I believe people should be free to worship as they choose. Even so, I believe she is free to feel as she does - even if it scares me.

LOL! (sardonically). It's no "handful" my friend. Think Catholicism and you'll just be scratching the surface.

Then, respectfully, it seems to me you aren't a true follower of, or believer in, your religion.

Judaism allows for thinking out of the box. You can be a true follower/believer in Judaism and also allow others to believe in their own religion.

Of course. I think most religions also "allow others to believe in their own religion." Even Ann Coulter would agree with that.

But, a true believer/follower of Judaism MUST believe that others who believe in other religions are wrong, at least to the extent they disagree with Judaism. Religion seems to me to be pretty much a "zero sum" game. Your particular religion is The One Truth, which by definition makes every other religion wrong/incorrect/misguided/not The Truth.
