All of this will I undertake until there are no horizons left to chase and the rum is gone.

Arrrrgh! Lol!

So what's it going to be Rick? A little "Depp/Richards" swashbuckling, or will you "swing in like Errol Flynn".

Seriously, that sucks for the "Big Day"

If it were me, i'd just run away and get married in Vegas. Oh wait, you are getting married in Vegas
Wait a minute,.."Treasure island".. Pirates? .... Beer... okay Pelicans.. road trip!!!

Rick Lee 10-16-2007 04:22 AM

Oh man, today I look like Marcia Brady in the episode where she got hit in the face with the football. Not good. Feels a lot better than last night, but looks BAD.

Glad it feels better. But from the picture it looks as though there is a lot of swelling of the lid and the eye looks crossed. If the eye is (newly) crossed and you have any double vision, and or the eye is portruding compared to the other eye, I would be concerned about the possibility of an orbital cellulitis which is very (emergently) serious. Just on the basis of the picture, even if I was pretty certain it was viral, I'd have you on an oral antibiotic.

Don't mean to be an alarmist and it is very difficult to see what's going on just in the picture,
but it may be time to give the ophthalmologist another call.

Rick Lee 10-16-2007 05:25 AM

Yes, my eye is protruding a bit. Going to the doctor again NOW.

notfarnow 10-16-2007 05:33 AM

Jeeze Rick, that sucks. I hope it's nothing serious, and I'll keep my fingers crossed that it clears up before the weekend.

Healthy, fit guy who never gets sick... and this would HAVE to happen days before your wedding, right?

charlesbahn 10-16-2007 05:49 AM

Good luck- hope I'm reading more into the picture than is really there, but best to be safe. I'm sure your ophthalmologist is fine but feel free to call my office if I can help answer any questions. 301-657-3022.

Dammit Rick, we warned you that self abuse would do this but noooooo, you had to keep going and now you see what happened? At least its only one eye (for now) but you need to get married and soon so this will stop!

Seriously... when is the wedding and are any Pelicans attending? I might be able to drive up but if its "family only" do not want to be a bother.

Rick Lee 10-16-2007 06:51 AM

Thanks guys. Just came back from the optham. He prescribed Augmentin for me and said it should be under control in another day or two. I'll definitely be wearing shades on the flight to Vegas. This is a family only wedding, so they're an understanding bunch. Would love to meet up with some guys at The Gun Store on Friday to shoot machine guns (they have an MP-40!!!!). But top priority now is not getting any sicker and then making sure the lady gets to where she needs to be on Friday. I'm done driving now for a day or two.

Rick - have a great time in Vegas. We also had a small friends and family wedding in Vegas and a great time was had by all. Good luck and prayers for a wonderful happy life, for both of you!

cstreit 10-17-2007 04:49 PM

Let us know how it turns out Matey!

Don Plumley 10-17-2007 05:05 PM

Good luck - and in all sincerity, if you would take a group photo with everyone wearing an eye patch, you will laugh about this for decades. And help prevent global warming.

Shuie 10-17-2007 05:13 PM

FWIW, September 19th is International Talk Like a Pirate Day. Move the wedding to next year and go with the eye patch :) Good luck

Riding the bike to and from work today was tough. The lady had to work in McLean and I can't take HOV into work without her in the car. But I can on the bike. Riding home, west, staring straight into the sun was no fun. About an hour after I got home my eye got dramatically better. Now it no longer hurts, is just slightly swollen, but still very red. I think things will look almost normal by Sat. I'll still have to wear sunglass on the plane tomorrow night. I really look forward to the medicine every 5-8 hrs. Makes me feel like each dose is getting me that much closer to total healing.

Rick Lee 10-17-2007 06:18 PM

Hey, maybe the Col. Klink monacle would be better than the pirate patch!
