mILITARY/GUN BUFFS...looking for army field manual for M60 machinegun from late 50's
...or early 60's. Longshot, I know, but my dad was involved in the development of the M60. I recall there was a field manual (the old tan colored ones) where my farher was pictured throughout demonstrating the M60. Anybody have a clue where I might find a copy?

Look in Shotgun News. The publication is better than the web site, imo.

Thanks, guys...thru those websites I was able to find a site www.military-info.com. They had an as new never opened copy from 1964 which I think is the correct one for $25.
My dad was reliving his youth a bit and talking about this and mentioned he wished he had a copy. Gonna be a great Xmas present!!!! Last edited by Dueller; 10-17-2007 at 09:12 AM.. |

Dueller,
I assume that you know what the M60 was copied off of? The German MG42, one of the very best MG's ever made. Glad you got the book for your Father. Now take him to Vegas sometime and let him fire one for real! ![]()

I'm probably renting an MP-40 in Vegas on Friday. It will be a dream come true.

This may sound a bit melodramatic, but it is strange to look at your old man and know that he has killed a number of people in his life. Especially since he is such a gentle soul now. As a kid I was scared to death of him...for good reason. But now as an adult with his military career long behind him its a starnge perspective. Interestingly, he rarely mentions his military career...no ego wall or war stories....very quiet whenever any thing related to the military comes up. It was odd he brought up this thing about the M60 field manual.
FWIW, he despises Bush's Iraq policy... |
