His bad day just keeps getting worse.

The shop next door just got in a brand new Corvette( supposedly belongs to some Lakers player) Seems as though the owner of the car is driving his new Vette down the street not paying attention to the speed limit. Hey it's a Vette how can you? Local traffic cop pulls him over for the violation. The cop recognizes the driver and after a license check decides to give a verbal warning and let him go. Then the cop notices that the front VIN is obscured by some parking lot/valet receipts that had been tossed up on the dash. He tells the guy that something like that could be a problem and that he should make some effort to remove them. Once he gets home he makes several attempts with compressed air and then a vacuum and then a thin paint stick all with no success. Players buddy comes along and shoves a long screwdriver between dash and windshield. CRACK!!! Busted the w/s. The owner in a mild fit gets out of the car to inspect the damage from the out side and the car rolls backward out the garage door. The Vette door is open and catches the the frame of the garage door. Vette door folds backward to meet front fender.
Total on the estimate is up to $7,000.00 and that doesn't include the garage!!!
I'll try to get photo's later.

Ouch. That's a bad day.

I've driven a C-6 Corvette. I did not obey the speed limit. Sorry.

Not only 'vette drivers...but I'll leave it to Ron or John to tell "the rest of the story"...;)

I broke my windshield doing exactly that, but it ended there... was surprised at how easily it broke. Almost no pressure.

Yeah, I'm not going to act like I've never screwed up in such a fashion. But not for as much $. At least yet. I'll be alive awhile longer, I have time.

At least you didn't buy a Ferrari.
Fortunately Wayne saw the error of his ways and has redeemed himself magnificently.

I broke the windshield on my wife's old BMW just trying to get the rearview mirror set right, by hand . Sometimes it's just not your day.

a nameless pelicanhead was backing into an Oregun garage with the drivers door open and something caused the door to squash.

I figure that the wood flower fence got pissed off that a convertable would dare to drive in Oregun. It was so pissed that it up-rooted. Not sure which happened first.

The Oregun native was amused at the Comedy Central routine. Anyway no damage to the fence or flowers as all was easily replanted intact.

Me and a friend of mine back in high school once tried to push a car out of his driveway - I was standing on the driver's side with the door open, pushing against the back of the door frame (we were pushing it backwards towards the street). The door, which was partially open, hit the vertical pole for the basketball hoop next to his driveway dead-on as we were pushing at about 5-10 mph. Galvanized steel pole about 4" in diameter, grouted with concrete. Pretty damn solid object to impale. Permanently destroyed the door latch. That car door never shut properly again. Duct tape and bungee cords were used.

In high school my buddy Jerry had to get his non-running 55 (or so) DeSoto up the driveway into the garage to work on the engine. It was too heavy to push by hand, and the only other vehicle we had was his tunnel buggy, which is not good for pushing.

We tied a 3/8" rope from the buggy to the car, and towed it a block or so down the street, me in the car and Jerry in the buggy. We made a u-turn then accelerated to about 15 mph. At about three houses before his, Jerry let off and let the rope go slack, then nailed it to break the rope and let me turn up the driveway and into the garage. Polypropylene rope apparently will stretch a *long* way before it breaks. Jerry's sudden acceleration transmitted quite well to the DeSoto.

I ended up trying to turn into the driveway at about 20, rope still intact but quite taut, and pulled Jerry along for the ride. Made it into the garage, and if it weren't for his mothers washer and dryer I would have been able to stop before hitting the wall. I think.

Yup...not just 'Vette drivers...eventually, John's 911 door was allowed to close...

Brorag 10-22-2007 11:06 AM

Johns 911 door

It has not healed itself yet. My neighbor is gonna fix the door, other dings, ect, and paint the whole thing for me--I get to strip the goodies off first. I've replace the top with a 993 look top (brown)...........it holds up at 130 mph.
to do next; pop the heads and jugs to eliminate smoke.
Last; redo the interior
then, I'll be too scared to take it out on another trip...............
well, maybe one more trip...............................
Screw it, let's take some more trips!

Didn't see moose? Count yourself as lucky... I nearly hit one last week.

FWIW, I don't like lobster either... they are disgusting.

Next time you cruise through, fire a off PM. There was some great sailing last week... fall colors and nice warm weather.

Aha! We now know you're one of those "high-falootin'" rotary guys that are too good to play 1-3 all the time!

...Spoken from someone who can't even get a grip on a little 5-valve Mirafone F. hehe

Brorag 10-24-2007 01:21 PM

rotary? wot's that?

it's just on there for looks, so's mine is bigger than yours....................
thinking about hanging some 3.2 valves off the side, as well as a cupholder.........
Do you like the Mirafone?

Brorag
