I KNEW it was too good to be true!
Oh well. Here it was, from my (and probably your) local craigslist:
Hi, If you are interested in my 1970 Porsche 911T, it is in perfect condition, with no need for additional repairs, no scratches, dings, special marks whatsoever. It has 58,329 miles and the VIN # is : 9110100237. It has a clear title ready to be signed and notarized on your name. I have the pictures hosted on the net and you can see them at : http://s232.photobucket.com/albums/ee59/thomassprinkle/. The car is located Twin Peaks CA. The price is $2,900.00 including shipping costs anywhere in the continental US. There are no other costs regarding this transaction. I am selling the car because I am in the army, and my regiment will be deployed to Afghanistan in November. The transaction will be closed only through a 3rd party and this way we will both be protected. My time is limited due to my job in the army so I decided to use a service from WorldPay. To begin the transaction I'll need your full name and shipping address, I will forward the details of our transaction to WorldPay and then you will receive an invoice from them. The car will be shipped insured to your location with DAS and you will have 5 days for inspection. Thank you very much for your time. Thomas Sprinkle MY REPLY: Mr. Sprinkle, Thank you very much for your reply. As a matter of coincidence, I live in San Bernadino! I would love to see the car in person. I have a car trailer and can pay cash; however, if it makes you more comfortable I can use WorldPay but I would like to bypass the shipping service and pick up the car in person, since I live only a few miles away. Please let me know how to proceed! Thank you! Jeremy Lawton Stay tuned. Beautiful car. Is it a Pelicans? |
Lol. I wonder if the real owner of that car knows he is using the pictures.
It was listed in the St. Louis area Craiglist also.
That's a damn nice car. I wonder if he will accept my lottery winnings that are due any day now.
Thats a great deal, does he have any other 911's for sale? I might have to pick one up at that price.
I always wondered why in so many of these scams, a more realistic selling price isn't established?
This should be good.
Popcorn time. I'll offer $2950 for it. :) |
I love the car. $2900 delivered...where do I sign...:)
Tell him you want it now, as you will be buying it for your close associate Ambassador Nimbuto Hameed, who lives abroad. Nimbuto has provided you with a check for $10,000, as he also owes you some money. What you will do is send him this cashier's check, and in return you will receive the car and the remainder of the money after the seller deposits the check. And because you appreciate his efforts in this transaction, you will want him to keep $500 for himself as a bonus.
Anxiously awaiting your kind response- Reverend Mark Julian |
Lol Scam the scammer. It was up here in Utah, but has been jerked down several times.
2900 seems to be a magic number for scammers.....

Are you giving up on becoming president and becoming a man of the cloth, Mark?
THE man of the cloth in the Portland (OR) area is Pat Sheehan...bet pool table mechanic in the area.
I wonder if $3000 is some magic cutoff for more serious charges if caught.
I'd send an email back beginning with "Please tell to me your last price for the item"....
Would it be any different if they picked a name and address out of a phone book? Or do people actually send money to these scammers. Ebay had hoards of them till they kind of cleaned it up
Dear The...can I call you Clarice?
