Honey, I lost the nukes.....

Hmmmm, second day and no comments on the B-52 that got loaded up with nukes....sat on a runway with no one noticing.....NO ONE in OT posting......article in local paper relegated to section C and below the fold?

In the late 50's, bomber actually had a nuke fall out of the bomb bay while flying near Albuquerque. They found and recovered the nuke. Nothing in the paper for sure for years.

Is that the same one that recently actually flew around 1500 miles, while unknowingly carrying live nukes?

Mike,

Do a search , back oh, a couple of weeks. I think you'll find the thread and links to the article that was discussed at the time.

As long as they find/recover it, I don't see the big deal. There are so many layers of safeties on nuclear warheads even if a roaming islamic jihadist within our borders stumbled across it, they'd likely end up blowing their own head off with the conventional triggers before they even came close to being able to arm it.

"Recovered" = Scraped up what was left of it. Not quite as bad as Palamares or Greenland, though...

Recall the one in the Southeast? Dropped one (an unloaded one) on a farm. Nearly had an airman do a Slim Pickens down with it, too.

And Russia says they're moving back to 24hr alert with their bombers. I hope we don't follow...

Does that mean I shouldn't mess around with the one I have in my backyard?

No, but I know a guy that knows a guy that knows a guy that might be interested in buying it from you. . .

Will they pay for shipping?

Actually, having a bomb makes it incredibly easy to make a bomb of lesser value.

They didn't really lose them. They were just misplaced for a bit.
