F1 (spoiler)

Awesome race! Who'd have predicted that.

Jims5543 10-21-2007 09:37 AM

Kimi said he needed a miracle and got it!!

Wahooo!!!!!

Fantastic Race....... for a Tifosi!!!

Kudo's to Massa for twice being a team player and getting Kimi points. Massa has my utmost respect.

Congrats Kimi!!!! A Much deserved WC!!!

My family are over from England at the moment and as much as they were cheering on for Hamilton I was hoping that Kimi could pul it off. In the end I think they were in the "Anyone but Alonso" camp. I'm very hapy for Kimi, he's had this due to him for a long time and it is very well deserved. He was the epitomy of long shot three races ago and he has just had the breaks go his way - finally!

The race itself was fantastic. I have to say that I think Hamster threw it away himself at the first corner and then his overly aggressive fight back. He'll learn though and he will be a driver to watch in subsequent seasons.

Funny how we were discussing British humor friday. This weekend England lost the Rugby World Cup Final to South Africa, and Lewis Hamilton has lost the F1 world drivers championship. What will we do? Laugh about it!

For those folks that have not seen it yet (DVR), it's a bit nicer to put something like "F1 Finish! (spoiler)" as the thread title.

Dottore 10-21-2007 10:23 AM

Great race. Great result. Hami demonstrated his lack of experience. Kimi really deserved the championship - having been let down so often in the past by his ride.

I thought that even Alonso showed some class in the post race interview by congratulating Kimi and showing no bitterness...

A very nice result all around. I'd give my left nut to be at Kimi's party tonight!

All Hail Ferrari And Kimi!!!

MotoSook 10-21-2007 10:59 AM

The podium finishers were all very classy during the post race interview. (I don't know if Hami would have been as classy i f he'd been amongst them) I think even Phil and Fernando were happy Kimi finally won the championship. Like Sir Jackie Stewart said, it'll teach Hami a lesson, and perhaps it'll make him a better F1 champion if he becomes one.

Finally, the fastest guy in an F1 car won and during an amazing race! This race is definitely being burn to DVD.

Stunning race and finally Kimi got what he deserved.

Great to see yet another Nordic Champion. Finland has always had good race drivers, not least on the rally scene. So has Sweden but after Ronnie Petersson we have not produced anyone good enough in the F1 circus.

I will reapeat feeling a bit sorry for Hamilton. Sure he is rooky and sure he kind of brought it on him self and Kimi for sure deserves it more, but there is something about that kid that makes me feel good about him. No it has nothing to do with fluffing..and he will have plenty of seasons ahead to earn his title of which I am certain he will eventually.

Congratulations to Kimi and the whole of Finland! He is now a hero beyond comprehension in his home country.

Amazingly, if I understand it correctly, besides with M. Shuuuumacher, this is the first GP victory for Ferrari since the 70īs.

Wickd89 10-21-2007 11:17 AM

Totally agree. Thank goodness "I" had seen the race, or else this would have been messed up.

I hope you did not ruin to many peoples F1 year!!!!:eek:

The start by Phil Massa (I love how David Hobbs keeps calling him Phil) was classic. I predicted it at the Cars and Coffee this morning, and it happened just like I hoped itwould.

How about Kubica! That guy needs a fast car. I've liked him since Hungary last year...and he's just waiting to break out with a fast car. I think even Hami commented once how he thought Robert was a great driver. Hopefully BMW steps it up next year.

?Did they ever tell us what electrical glitch Hamilton experience? Was it sabatoge (as Alonso would have claimed if it were his car)......

Excellent idea. To all: please be careful to not give too much away in the future. Thanks.

NOTE: I edited this post after realizing that my response to Aerkuld was a bit over-the-top. Yes, it bothered me to have the race result spoiled, but in retrospect, it's just a race result. In the grand scheme of things, it certainly doesn't justify me attacking him for it - I'm a little irritated by it, but life is full of little irritations sometimes. We're cool, just everyone please exercise a little common courtesy in your post titles from now on. Thanks.

The English commentary team were told that it was a gearbox glitch that lost Hamster 4o seconds and dumped him back to 18th, although it was not officially confirmed.

I was unashamedly routing for LH but I'm not too upset, Kimi deserved the win and the championship. He doesn't moan, he just gets on and drives like his pants are on fire, oh and he likes to drink, he's a good guy in my books!

Rory Mckenna 10-21-2007 11:59 AM

I remember a while ago I started a thread that said KIMI would indeed win the champion title and there were a ***** load of nay sayers out there who were in love with the new kid Hami.. SEE I TOLD YA Kimi would WIN!

They said it was the failsave from the clutchsystem. You could see him reset the system on his steeringwheel.

Great race today !

TOTALLY agree. I wanted Hamilton to win, but have liked Kimi for years so I am glad he hung in there and "did the business."

Great year for Lewis (but surely he is very disappointed)...:(:(

Wait until Alonso has a few interviews under his belt before you give him too much credit for being classy. I think the guy is a self-centered pig.

Hamilton did show his inexperience. I'm sure the animosity between LH and FA had a lot to do with Lewis being baited into a foolish move on the first lap. Whether the electrical problem was the result of Hamilton's desperate effort to get back in the fight after going wide at the start will never be known, but mechanicals are part of racing.

To Lewis' credit, he too showed a lot of class after the race by thanking his team and remaining visible. He looked comfortable and gracious in his disappointment. Of course he had quite a few laps to come to grips with the fact that he had lost the title. He would have been equally composed and gentlemanly as the other drivers on the podium, as he has learned his craft from Ron Dennis and company. He has learned well at an early stage in his career.

I am a McLaren fan and now despise Alonso for his antics this season. Even though I dislike the way Ferrari conducts their business in F1, I am very happy for Kimi. He is unique. He is his own man and a hell of a fast driver. I only wish he could have won his championship with McLaren.

Totally!

Can't wait for Mclaren-Mercedes to fully FIRE Alonso. I would have loved it to have happened 1 hour after the end of the gp. What a schitty employee. Anyone of us would have been shown the door with such antics.......SmileWavySmileWavySmileWavy
