Best Radar Detector?

What would be the best buy for one of these?
Thanks in advance.

:D

Valentine V1!!!

Being able to tell if the signal is from in front of you or behind is worth the higher price. Also tells you how many units are sending signals. Can't tell you how many times I've had units in front of as well as behind!

Also, 30 day return policy. Try it, and if you really don't like it, send it back!
Does Passport have that deal?

There are MANY threads here on this board that you can search through. (pssst...I'll cut to the chase. V1 and be done with it);)

The two tops seem to be either Passport 8500 and Valentine 1.

I really like the V1 myself. I suspect that if the P8500 is competition for the V1 then it's probably a top notch item as well.

The V1 tells you how many radar contacts you are getting hit by which is a great feature. Let's say you drive past a supermarket everyday which sets off your detector and says 2 hits (2 auto door sensors) and then one day you are suddenly seeing 3 hits. Chances are a cop is sitting in the parking lot which you would normally not know with any other detector.

Also, the V1 has directional arrows which tell you if the contact is in front of you, beside you, or behind you. This is also valuable.

The more info you can get the better. My V1 has saved me plenty of times and would have paid for itself a couple of times over if I had paid for it.

V1 it is.
Thanks for the input.

Yep! I bought a V-1 in March of this year and it's paid for itself several times over!

V1

I purchased the cheaper Excort from Valentines previous company because I couldn't get the V1 off the shelf here in Canada; but then with this new twin turbo and the condemnation of speeders alike; I decided I better just get the V1, then I put the two side by side (still have it that way) to test them against each other.

The escort gives me false 'spurts' of full blast alerts; which scares the heck out of a guy when he's over 200Km/Hr! The V1 is excellent! I love it and I'm sure it's saved me the cost time two already and I've only had it a week.

I speed way too much; its habitual and the twin turbo is no help either

It only took about a week to receive ordering off the website, international to Canada too; www.valentine1.com

........and to ease the pain of the haunted return of "which radar detector should I get"........

The V-1 crushes the others like a grape, but in fairness you cannot accurately judge a unit when it is mounted 2" away from another active detector. In fact, that is one of the major flaws of many of the RD comparison tests.

Thanks, I'll be fixing that right away......... the Escort goes into the SUV today and the BEL gets retired.

TIP: My neighbouring Province makes it illegal to have a detector; and I've heard of guys having them confiscated there too; that would hurt to have a V1 taken away when I'm in that Province; so..... I keep one of my older, disfunctional detectors nearby so if an officer asked, "Where is your detector"; rather than saying, "Uh, I don't have one" and him finding it; I'll just hand him the old defunct one. So keep the old ones for bait. Cheers
