Australian pink Floyd

Yeah, I know there is nothing like the original of anything, but what are the chances of Pink Floyd playing in concert again?
A few nights ago PBS ran an Austalian Pink Floyd DVD concert recorded at the Royal Alber Hall. The band was dead on. APF is touring and will be here locally in December at a symphony hall.

Comments? Flames?

They were just here playing the Greek Theater. Highly recommended to me by a few people who had seen them but I already had plans that weekend. I might have to settle for the DVD.

I saw them last Saturday in Denver, wife heard about them on PBS and surprised me with the tickets, and dinner reservations. They were close to dead on, they even had an inflatable pig, and a kangaroo for that matter.

I've been to three actual Floyd concerts in my life, and this was fun, but no where near the same thing. Just like Gilmour they have a guy with a Fender Stratocaster, and a guy with a Telecaster, the resulting sound is a bit off. Like two different guitarists playing a part that one guitarist did. Actually all in all they have three guitarists.

The parts they did well IMHO was the percussion on Learning To Fly, but other than that you could always tell. The guy that does Gilmours' vocals is probably spot on, the guy that does Waters is not.

Long reply I know, but I know now that I probably will never go to another concert. The 30 - 60 somethings, the die hard fans were a great bunch, the 20' somethings were ANNOYING AS HELL. For instance the four in front of us were constantly yelling at each other, text messaging (text messaging from the $50 per ticket seat) and necking like hormone driven teens. At the intermission I was ready to kill them! (probably because I'm too old I guess.)

Oh, and even though it was indoors, I still smelled some refer, just like old times. Great Gig in sky and Any colour you want were their best covers.

Scott,
Thanks,long replies are welcome...

I saw Floyd in 1972 in a theater type setting and in 1976 in a stadium.

My neighbor saw Roger Waters in concert doing DSOTM and fat 20 something year old girls were dancing on their seats during "The Great Gig". It ruined the concert for my neighbor. Some music is best enjoyed while "comfortably numb".
