Two way to look at it
There are 2 ways you can look at all the fires in SO CAL...
One is that it is a blessing from Gawd that some of the excess housing in CA has been eliminated and housing prices might now stabilize  Or that it is the WRATH of Gawd wrought upon the hedonistic anti-Gawd anti business Liberal State of CA.... Yes I think it would be a GOOD IDEA to conduct a Poll to see which one these ways we should look at it....I leave it to the good members and their wisdom to decide. |
A third way to look at it is that nature is potentially harsh and some areas are periodically subject to fire, flood, e-quakes, tornados or hurricanes. If you live in those areas, be prepared for what nature can throw at you.

Yeah, can't see either one of those being correct...
|
It can't be "A" because San Diego is largely a right-wing, military-oriented city and it can't be "B" because I suspect it'll do more damage to housing demand than to inventory.
I'm hoping it makes all the illegals south of the border want to stay out, but more likely they'll either try to use the fires & smoke as cover to get across easier and see it as good for them since there will be so much residential reconstruction in the coming months (and who but illegals does residential construction any more?) |
This isn't a matter of having muliple choichs...it an either or situation, there ONLY TWO ways to look at this..you can't be a Mamby Pamby pole sittin way till I see which way the wind is blowing Clinton loving Liberal on this one....MAKE A CHOICH..take a stand and be a man.

If buyers, lenders, or insurers take fright, could further slow house demand in SoCal, potentially in a broad area of SoCal.
Does pull some supply off market, but how much - suppose 5,000 houses burn, suppose 5% to 10% of homes in typical neighborhood are for sale, that's 250 to 500 units less supply. Doesn't seem like a lot. Not clear if the demand impact or the supply impact is greater. |

Natural disasters (or man-made disasters) are good for business. Especially when you're in the building business. If you believe in trickle down economics - these fires will be good for CA. I'm sure there are lots of contractors gassing up the trucks getting ready to get to work.

I have a lot of sympathy for the people affected by the fires, but to be honest I don't think it is a suprise to anyone. I lived down near the El Toro marine base a few years back and was always aware that we were sitting on a powder keg. In my mind it wasn't so much IF, as WHEN. Homes have been built in, or right up next to canyons and other wild areas packed full of combustible material that hasn't been cleared out for years. All it needed was a small fire to start and the wind to be blowing in the right direction and the whole lot would be toast.
As much as I apprecite Tabs' alternative sense of humor the real reason behind this must surely be a mixture of bad planning and bad luck. |

What does Gawd and the fires have to do with Nawlins? Stop dodging the subject...is Gawd pissed or is he helping CA out? |
Tabs, you should stick to what you know, like Paris Hilton and spoons. :D

Tabs, I think you should use the spoons to induce vomiting. It helps to get those bad things out of your stomach. Regarding your poll, it seems like you're hellbent on a liberal pursuit of blame and rationalization for bad ju-ju in one's life. My initial response was chockfull of personal responsibility and situational awareness. The former is inconsistent with being a master buffeteer, and the later is way too consistent with that profession. I realize this may leave you feeling kind of schitzophrenic, but under no circumstances are you to mix your drugs with your booze. Stay safe. :)
