Not at all. Something like 50% of the population in Iran is under 30. They have no memory of a Shah. They just want their MTV.

Mule 10-24-2007 09:16 AM

Mohammed loosing out to MTV? Say this isn't so by allah!

My impression has been that the people of Iran are far more secular than the government and those that control it.

Legion is right- the Persians I know want their MTV. They despise the clerics and what their country has become. Most are too young to remember the Shah and they'd love to go home to a free society.

As to Israel- God bless 'em. They live next door and are not about to let these moonbats threaten their existence. We can afford to dither at the UN, argue about Fox News and question the "morality" of taking Iran's nuclear facilities out. Israelis don't have that luxury.

BTW the Shah owned one of the most beautiful Lamborghini's I've ever seen: http://www.lamborghiniregistry.com/Miura/MiuraSV/4870.html

He couldn't have been all bad.

An internal revolution (maybe one we can quietly help feed) would be the ideal situation for us.

Well I almost hate to say this legion, but we are entirely on the same page with this. I thought dinnerjackets recent visit to your fine shores was an incredibly stupid wasted opportunity on your (the US's) part.

You should be talking to this guy. You should be talking to all representatives of the anti-mullah crowd in Iran. You should be building bridges and sowing seeds.

You (the US) should be more subtle and think a little bit longer term. You should try to understand the larger implications of what you do before you do it. You should get some smart people into your administration and then actually listen to them.

Enough of this 'mule in a china-shop' knee-kerk reactionism.

if you can wait a little over year, there's going to be a hell of a sale on big hammers.

So close Dottore...I don't believe "dinnerjacket" is the right guy to be talking to. He is in power because of the Mullahs. They aren't happy with him right now, and I expect him to be gone shortly. I agree with the statement: "You should be talking to all representatives of the anti-mullah crowd in Iran. You should be building bridges and sowing seeds." I just see Ahmadinejad as an extensioin of the Mullahs, and therefore not who we want to be aligned with.

That is what you do when you are trolling and have nothing positive to contribute. If he were only 10% as smart as he thinks he is he would be money.

not unlike the recent Nasty Nancy Armenian stupidity, does not make things better for anyone, but has the real potential to harm everyone, well, maybe not as bad as Pelosi.

We will not get much done until after next November, because the politicians have a vested interest in nothing happening until then, so they can get elected and "fix" it. Dealing with Imadinnerjacket validates him and is a mistake. He is a puppet of the mullahs anyway, how can working with him have anything but adverse effects?(rhetorical question, it can't) We have been working with the anti-mullah crowd for years

hardrive, put your head back in the sand, grown-ups talking here.
