Cars Tires Slashed
Cars Tires Slashed
I had parked both of my cars on the street in front of my house, each had one rear tire stabbed in the sidewall by a knife, I'm guessing sometime late Sunday night. The Geo Tracker only gets 2,000 miles a year put on it, the 4-year old tires looked almost new. Discount tire pro-rated the tire wear and gave me half off the tire. They said had I purchased the Road Hazard Certificate they would of replaced the vandalized tire for FREE. The Porsche originally got new rubber from Discount Tire when I purchased it 5-years ago. I replaced the two rear tires at Belle Tire 6-months/1,000 miles ago. Story is that one of the rear tires went flat at a job site, Belle Tire was right across the street, my client gets his tires there and recommended them, plus my client gave me a ride back down town afterwords. No tow truck, no driving on the rim. Now get this, Belle said I did not purchase the Road Hazard (they never offered it to me) and had I done so they still would not cover the vandalized tire. In addition Belle Tire said they would not pro-rate the almost brand new tire at all, they would not give me a discount of any kind either. I took the tire to Discount tire, not only did they give me half off the new tire, they allowed me to purchase Road Hazard coverage for BOTH rear tires (even the one they did not sell me). DISCOUNT TIRE America's Largest Independent Tire Dealer, rated number one for as far back as I can remember, and for a good reason - they value their customer's business.

So...
Your conclusion? Vandals? Random act? Enemies in the 'hood'?

Len is always trying to blame the government for his own lack of personal responsibility.

Al Gore was just trying to save the world by keeping you from driving your cars. Of course he had to burn thousands of gallons of fuel in his private jet to get there and back but thats a sacrifice he's willing to make in the name of humanity (and for getting more awards)

Wow, that sucks. It'd be nice to think that the punk that did it stepped on a big, rusty nail a block later and now has a "flat" foot for his Karma.
Wow, Discount did well. I've got a guy that I work with that says they often will patch tires for free.

Unfortunately you can't patch a sidewall puncture. A hole in the side means the tire is dust.
I hafta say that I actually feel bad for jumping on this thread for humor. Vandalism sucks big time, I'd be pissed too. |

Vandalism plain and simple.
Most likely a drunk U of M student (spoiled brat who never had to pay for anything in his life) pretending to be bada$$ by stabbing car tires. A car down the street had it's windshield busted in last week. Who breaks a windshield but a vandal? I mean; to break into the car you take out a side window, right? I'm sure the IMPEACH BUSH sign on my lawn had nothing to do with it. However if you guys are desperate to give Bush credit for something, be my guest. ![]()

Honestly, there have been politicians I'd like to denounce publicly like that. BUT- you are creating a target. Might want to consider pursuing your agenda in other ways.
Same thing with bumper stickers. The are too many people out there who will state their disagreement with a bat or a knife. I like the soul of this thread though- discount tire didn't have to give you anything, and they hooked you up with half off and likely got a lifetime customer for treating you so well. I hope more people can post positive experiences with companies like that. Makes me feel all warm and gooey. |

While staying in a friends brownstone in Boston quite a few years back, a few of the cars had signs in their car window which said "This Car Has No Stereo".
Maybe I need a sign of some sort. Too strong? http://www.ioffer.com/i/Bumper-Sticker-3X4-Rebel-flag-Confederate-CSA-7557991 ![]() Too wordy? http://www.goal.org/store/store.html ![]()

I have an NRA sticker on the back of my truck. I'm yet to have any problems.
And yes George, this does suck and it was probably vandals. If it was college students, the sign maybe did attract them, but the car might have too. They probably would have broken something on your street anyways.
