The Robin Hood Morality test.

This was sent to me today by email. Pretty interesting. Take the test and tell us how you do.

"We would expect you to be a happy, well-balanced person who likes people and is liked by others. You question whether many conventional views on morality are valid under all circumstances.

Men: Do we detect a sense of chivalry and idealism under the sophistication? "

How did it know I was a moral relativist?

Funny. I got the same thing. I think we are less than 15%.

Do I give a flying French kiss? Nope...

onewhippedpuppy 10-26-2007 05:18 PM

You are the slightly romantic realist. You respect truth, and are broadminded and flexible. Whether you are a man or a woman you are probably a happy person. You like people and they can readily make friends with you. You are not very adventurous, but this does not bother you.

Umm, I guess that's right. Makes me sound pretty boring, huh?

911Rob 10-26-2007 05:25 PM

You are a moralist with conventional ideas, which some people would call old-fashioned.

Men: You probably consider yourself a fair-minded man in a world which falls badly below your standards. Your inhibitions and sense of guilt are in the way of your happiness.

Shoe fits; oh well.

Perhaps so. But, don't you like the idea of maid marrion & little john getting it on??? (edit) I mean, who gets on top????

"You are fairly broadminded romantic and reasonably contented. You value kindness greatly and try to live by your ideals. You do not conceal from yourself, or from others, your strong need for security, which may be either emotional or material.'

Gee - what do I do now (I'm feeling a need for security)?

SlowToady 10-26-2007 05:59 PM

You are conventional and puritanical.

Men: You moralize and see women as a great conspiracy against man, with sex as their principal weapon. You are missing a great deal in life.

This is what I got, too.

"Your inhibitions and sense of guilt are in the way of your happiness."
This part is not right, though. I'm happy now.

Interesting. . . How long did you all think about it before answering? I imagine that might have something to do with our responses. I took about 5 minutes.

Also, did anyone else run into the issue of which character they LIKED best versus which one they thought was the most MORAL? I struggled with this a little - I suppose having a like or disdain for one of the characters does serve to provide some insight on how we view their morality - though not 100%. In other words, a character that appeals to you might very well be one whose moral decision you agree with in this story (and that's why they appeal to you, though not necessarily. . .)

Very cool stuff. Makes you think.

The way I see it, Robin is a thief, Marion is a hanger on slut, friar tuck is a roadie hanger on, and the sheriff is up holding the law.

Same here... rings true although I have done some pretty "adventurous" things in my life.

I understand this is all to be taken with a grain of salt but I am pretty sure you can't nail a persons morality with one question.;)

sammyg2 10-27-2007 06:57 AM

Not even close.
How can anyone think that they can tell anything about a person after 3 questions?

Did anyone take the time to read all the answers? They are pretty skewed and some of them are downright offensive:

Here's a sample:

You are conventional, unimaginative, and something of a prude. It would be surprising if your love life was a roaring success.

If you are not happy - and we suspect you are not - it maybe because you feel guilty about your own emotions, and lack confidence in your opinions.

Your philosophy of life is a sad hotchpotch of the conventions of society, your own convictions and romanticism. You are not unkind, only staid and unimaginative.

You have a very chauvinistic and outdated outlook on life. Your values and principles are defined not by clarity of conscience but by popular beliefs.

Men: We think you are unhappy, although you probably will not admit it. As a ruthless authoritarian you are as moral as it suits you and no more. You do not apply the same rules to men as you do to women.

Women: How worthless you seem to think women are.

You have a confused, immature sense of values. You are erratic and stubborn, and inclined to get angry or sulk when you don't get your own way, but at least you are not a moral hypocrite.

Men: We find it hard to imagine you leading a full, happy life. The warmth and give-and-take of love are not for you. Your sex life is ringed with unreality, and you neither understand nor appreciate women.

Women: If you really believe this is the right order, you baffle us completely.

The last one is the best...they say up front there is no right answer but then chastise someone for giving one of the options.

Who the hell do these people think they are?

futuresoptions 10-27-2007 07:57 AM

You are essentially a contented person, even if you consider yourself a little superior. You are moral by your own standards, for you believe that morality is what best suits the occasion.

Men: You are sexually uninhibited, more romantic than you may appear, and more dependent on the approval of others than you care to admit.

DonDavis 10-27-2007 08:04 AM

The whole thing is flawed. The instructions clearly state
"Forget any preconceived ideas you may about them - this is a different sort of story from all the others"

Well, that changes everything. Why were they arrested? When the sheriff asked her to "spend the night" they never say IF they had sex.
If they did, she's a ho and Robin should leave. He did, but first he abused her. Not good. For all we know, Little John beat some old lady and molested kids.

This exercise is filled with psycho babble in's and out's and is set up to be an endless discussion.

BTW, my selstion was SLMR

You have a confused, immature sense of values. You are erratic and stubborn, and inclined to get angry or sulk when you don't get your own way, but at least you are not a moral hypocrite.

Men: "Love 'em and leave 'em" is the motto of a man who is basically afraid of women.
