Well, at least Those nasty Impact Bumpers are good for something!

Coming home from work this morning, I was 2nd in line at a light with two lanes in each direction. Light turned green, one lane went, but the guy in front of me didn't. Nice lady on phone in new beetle behind me went. BAM. Only about 3 or 4 mph, though. She didn't even hang up the phone. I drove a block or two, signaled left, and motioned for her to follow me.

I knew that there was likely no damage to anyone's car, but it's common courtesy to at least stop and check, right?

Not for her. She didn't turn out with me, didn't hang up, didn't stop, didn't even look my way, and just kept on driving. B**CH. Maybe she thought I was gonna assault her or something and interrupt her phone call.

So my car's fine and I'm glad I haven't removed my USA impact bumpers yet.

That's crazy.

People are insane. I had a guy do something similar once. I was behind him leaving a parking lot. He threw it in reverse, popped my 911 in the nose with his back bumper and then threw it into drive and drove off like nothing had happened. Like you, there was no damage, but the balls of some folks....

I had the same thing happen one other time. Some one was leaving a parking lot trying to cross a very busy road. They couldn't get across, that's when they backed into me. I realized when the driver's and pass's side door opened what was going on. A father was teaching his son to drive. When the father stepped out and turned around and saw the 911 sitting there his eyes got the size of dinner plates and his jaw dropped. I think I may have even heard his sphincter clamp shut. No damage, I sent them on their way, but I think it may have taken 10 years off of the fathers life.

I guess I'm always thinking, surely they're going to stop before they hit me....

One of my buddies calls it a "$hit Sheila."

"Oh, $hit, Sheila! I just . . like . . totally hit this guy. Oh my god!"

Nasty impact bumpers? Just think of the styling disasters of so many cars when the new bumper laws hit in the 70's. MGB anyone? Porsche pulled a masterstroke redesigning the 911's bumpers. If that Beetle had hit my car, I'm sure it would have been costly.

Long time ago in Texas, leaving a shopping mall, the exit sloped up hill. I was sitting there and the woman in front of me kept slipping backwards. I honked. She slipped more, I honked. Finally, she slides back into me.

She then claims I hit her. Fortunately, I had someone in the car with me. But she was pissed off that I honked at her. I think she thought I was trying to get her to go. I was warning her that she was about to hit me.

My first time taking the Carrera 3 to work, I come around a corner on the way home and have to stop to give way to an approaching car passing a line of parked cars. BAM - the dope behind me punts me up the bum and then starts shouting out his window at me for stopping. I get out, check everything and tell him it's his lucky day - no damage.

Up until that point I was contemplating replica carbon bumpers - no more.

I'd have reported it as a hit-and-run, which it was. C*nt. Deserves to get busted for it.

My exact thought. Should have taken down the plate number and called the police. That would have taken the b!tch down a notch, maybe she'd think twice about driving and talking.

You're nicer than I would have been. I would have had a cop come out and do a report. Even a low speed impact that compresses the bumper can cause damage to the valance, bumper shocks and bumper pads. I was hit low speed and the bill was over 3K. New bumper pads were $400/each. Bumper shocks $400/each. The valance folded around the muffler tip and had to be replaced. The only obvious damage was a tear in one of the bumper pads. I didn't notice the valance damage until at the shop.

Oh, don't worry. When I rolled the dice this morning, I"m glad I got in the car that even has impact bumpers.
