"Illegal Aliens weren't adequately warned about fires"

Heard this on the radio this AM - supposedly one of these "pro-immigrant" groups is up in arms and considering lawsuits because recent wildfire efforts failed to adequately warn illegal border crossers of the potential danger, and for failing to bring them food, water and supplies.

Can you believe the nerve of these f*cking people?!?! Yea, let's pull resources from fighting fires from destroying the lives and property of U.S. CITIZENS that live here and that actually pay the taxes that support such effort, make them drop what they're doing and shuttle food and water to bands of uneducated illegals breaking into our country.

When the f*ck are we going to start doing something about this? This is insane.

Mo_Gearhead 10-31-2007 07:41 AM

Let them sue. As the plaintiffs file in they can be arrested and deported.
In fact we should encourage them to file claims.;)

motion 10-31-2007 07:48 AM

Jeff, I am anti-illegal immigration, but sweet Jebus, man, these are human beings. They deserve at least as much care and consideration as anyone else, legal or not. I'm not saying dire resources should be diverted, but the thought and concern is appropriate, imho. During a disaster like this, immigration and border issues should take a place behind common decency and respect for fellow human life. Dude, you are one angry guy.

Rick Lee 10-31-2007 07:53 AM

I can dispute this for a fact, as my company sent out a press release IN SPANISH from our very own Centers for Disease Control warning them.

Noah930 10-31-2007 07:54 AM

CNN had a big story on this a few days ago. They were interviewing the Spanish speaking people evacuated to Qualcom stadium.

On one hand, I understand that it's tough to understand what's going on in time of disaster when you don't speak the language. Public service announcements are usually in English. But hey, shouldn't that be incentive to speak the language of the country in which you're living?

And when I was a kid, there were maybe 3 Spanish television stations on air. I'm sure there were only a handful of radio stations, too. But now, Spanish television and radio stations are ubiquitous. If those (admittedly privately-owned) stations aren't willing to help spread the message in time of disaster, I think I'd be a lot more outraged at them, as opposed to the US government.

legion 10-31-2007 07:54 AM

Clearly, your company wasn't thinking about the masses of illegals from Brazil, Rick. ;)

Rick Lee 10-31-2007 07:58 AM

Well, I was driving all around CA last week and every time I scanned the radio stations, there was no lack of Spanish on there. Isn't LA's largest radio station all Spanish?

Noah930 10-31-2007 08:01 AM

Motion makes a good point. Illegal or not, these are people we're talking about. There are basic tenets of human decency that we value in this country.

But, at least regarding those who were trying to sneak across the border: they are people who are trying to NOT get detected and caught by the border patrol. It makes it a bit difficult to then locate and save these people when they're running around in the relatively unpopulated desert, actively trying to elude detection. What is the government supposed to do, fly around and airdrop care packages and non-combustible fliers all over the wilderness to warn those sneaking across the border that there may or may not be a raging wildfire impeding their progress?

Porsche-O-Phile 10-31-2007 08:03 AM

So you're saying you're okay with your tax dollars being used to subsidize a bunch of people that snub their noses at our laws and who come here DELIBERATELY to steal our jobs, leech off our social programs and weaken our economy (which is already threatened enough as it is)? For real? This is REALLY what you're saying?

America is full. We don't need any more people. Seriously. Especially illegals that can't contribute anything other than grunt labor.

No, I am not saying that. But during times of disaster, borders must be put aside. What if the rescue crews were right at the border and witnessed homes and people being destroyed a few feet away, in Mexico. Would you suggest that they ignore their plight and focus on saving an empty multi-million dollar American home instead?

Noah930 10-31-2007 08:14 AM

Um, Jeff, I don't think anyone is thrilled with the idea of using American tax dollars to subsidize a significant non-American presence here in the Southland (and elsewhere). I certainly didn't say that, nor did motion, if I'm reading his [first] post correctly.

edit: motion types faster than I do

Don't need grunt labor??

Send 'em up here then. We've got a housing boom and contractors can't get enough help.

Not necessarily. When you put it that way, I think we agree more than we disagree. However, these guys were actually suggesting that crews abandon their mission (which is to "protect lives and property") and give assistance to illegal border-crossers.

Look, if I'm on a fire crew and I see a bunch of people about to be overrun by wildfire, I'm not going to stop and ask them for ID before rescuing them. C'mon. Nobody's saying that. You put lives first. Without question. However that's VERY different than making people drop what they're doing and go wait on these people because they think they're entitled to the full complement of U.S. government services and attention from the moment they set foot on U.S. soil, even if it puts firefighters at risk, results in peoples' homes being destroyed or someone being killed because a firefighter that otherwise WOULD HAVE been there is off catering to the need of some illegals that snap their fingers in our face and demand to be waited on.

sammyg2 10-31-2007 08:19 AM

I agree with the special interest illegal alien group. the government has a responsibility to aid and abet these criminals when they are commiting a crime. We need to do everything we can to help them commit this crime, it's to hard to do it now. We should provide armed security escorts, food, water, even mass transportation to them as they try and cross the border illegally. Sure it would be expensive, but we are talking about people, right?

I mean, their own governments would do the same, right?

F*CH the illegals!!!
I still say we should be shooting them on site!!! I also say that anyone, be it a business or a church should be punished, jail time & fines, and with the churches, they should loose their tax excempt status too.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1193853481.jpg

futuresoptions 10-31-2007 10:07 AM

I say let them come over here hell, thousands of Americans have died to secure or borders and way of life, life is not worth much anyway... Almost no one pays their fair share of taxes, so why should we expect it from illegals? I think you guys are just a bunch of racists pigs... I am sure that if Europe was next door you would have no problem with uneducated, unvaccinated, non-English speaking Europeans coming into our country and inflicting a change in our way of life. I mean really grow up, what do you have to loose, your sovereignty?

This is truly a wonderful country that we live in. What other country on this Earth guarantees its citizens the freedom and right to voice their opinions publicly without fear of their government coming to take them away in the middle of the night.

Consequently, we are a unique nation of free people ranging from altruists to bottom-feeders.

Dan in Pasadena 10-31-2007 10:35 AM

I'm SO sick of the haters here.

Rikao4 10-31-2007 10:35 AM

Clearly you don't have a clue!! How is it racist not to want to reward some one for breaking the law??? Crime rates are going up, uninsured accidents are raising our rates, and why should those of us who worked to build our businesses reward those who are breaking the law???
