That wacky Scott McClellan is at it again.
Shame the guy has credibility with absolutely no one at this point, or this story might actually cause a stir.

I seem to remember no one took McClellan seriously or believed a word he said when he was WH press. sec. Why would he be taken seriously now that he's promoting his book? If I were Plame or Wilson, I'd be thanking Armitage for starting this whole thing that made me so rich and got me all the tv time I wanted, while putting Libby in jail. You couldn't have given Plame and Wilson a better deal if you tried.

Exactly Frogger. How does promoting a book (that's paying several times the WH salary) make them any more beliveable?

Shoot the messenger, indeed. If his character is that bad, I question the wisdom of the people that would bring him into the WH inner circle to begin with, and how many other "wackos" are still there?
At least now he's not encumbered by his Press Secretary job duties and can speak his mind. If what he says is true, it will stick.

The White House Press Secretary is the voice of the President.

McClellan got his job through family connections. His mom was close with the Bush's and was either TX state treasurer or mayor of Austin (I forget which, maybe both though). Scott's brother, Mark, was FDA Commissioner and then headed up CMA/Medicare. Mark got his MD from Harvard and his PhD from MIT. He is a super, super smart guy. Scott may be too, but doesn't perform well in front of cameras. You all know that loyalty is a worth a lot more to the Bush's than competence.

THAT's funny. I think Mike McCurry was a very honest and good guy, probably my favorite WH press sec. But I didn't believe him when he repeated Clinton's lies and I didn't believe Cllinton when he told them directly himself. Ditto for Joe Lockhart. Also a very good guy. Lied like a rug for his boss.

You really think the WH press sec. is the voice of the pres.? Some have been way more believeable than others who have served the same president. What changed?

Some (McClellen) are not so good at lying, maybe?

But more to the point, who does the PS speak for? Who tells him what to say?

So, those that were way more believable weren't lying like rugs and those that didn't "perform" well in front of cameras were? Seems to me that no matter how well "performed", a lie is a lie. Yes, I really think the WH press sec. is the voice of the pres. - at least until the pres. catches him not being that and gives him the boot.

Some of you are conveniently missing the implications of the 5 higher ups in compelling him to lie to the country. Or the implications if Fitzgerald reopens investigations into cover ups and "outing" a CIA Agent.
Rick has deflected to Plame, Wilson, McCurry, etc, but the real issue here is 5 WH officials conspiring to out an agent and then covered it up. Some of you will eat Crow for Thanksgiving. :-)
