Cigar question....
 

I would like suggestions for a hand rolled cigar. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Would like Churchill length, maduro wrapper, sugar sweet tip with no flavoring. Looking for something mild that I can fill the humidor with and enjoy every once and a while... Any suggestions would be appreciated....

Ashton and Chateau reale for mild unflavored goodness.

Makers marks are a bit strong.

Oliveros for flavored best vanilla and honey out there. Most flavoreds use lower grade tobacco and use the flavor to hide it. Oliveros starts with good tobacco and adds flavor.

I don't know what price range you're looking for but IMHO a Padron Aniversario is about as good a cigar as exists on the planet. Size is up to you, my preference is the torpedo. Another fine choice is Camacho Triple Maduro, maduro binder, maduro filler & maduro wrapper, rolled on the thighs of virgins (I think). I'm somewhat of a newcomer with cigars, about 35 years. I would avoid Opus X, Cohiba (Dominican), Davidoff, all fine cigars, just not worth the price. If I can help, pm me. I need no excuse to talk cigars.:D

I really like the sweetness on the tip of a cigar, it sorta mellows out the flavor for me. I have seen some of the flavored cigars, but the only ones that I think may interest me would be the vanilla and possibly the ones flavored with rum or coffee.

What I would really like to find is "Swisher Sweet" type cigar but of good quality with a Maduro wrapper that is hand rolled. I have planned on filling my large (150 cigar) humidor with this type cigar and then my smaller humidor with possible vanilla and coffee flavored cigars. I honestly have only bought up and to this point drug store, machine made cigars and would like to improve the quality of my stogies since I am going to quit smoking cigarettes....

I am just tired of the dried out crap you buy at the store....

I know that there are alot of good cigars out there, but I really want one with a cuban style sweet tip. Do all of these mentioned above have the sweet tip? I have read that the Romeo Y Julieta ciagrs have this sweet tip, but have been described as having a spicy flavor. All I want to taste is sugar and smoke......

Never say "Swisher Sweet" in the same sentence as the word "quality" unless it's loaded with sarcasm.

I like Arturo Fuente. Pretty reliable and consistent. It's no Swisher Sweet (sarcasm) but quality none the less. Partagas and Punch are okay too.

I will probably get flamed for mentioning a brand that is not one of the heavy hitters but.

I have tried a few and the Rocky Patel’s Vintage Series is exactly what you are describing... They are not artificially flavored but they have a natural dark, sweet, mellow flavor.

My current favorite is the Romeo y Julieta Reserve Maduro but it is more of a spicy smoke than sweet.

Try the Rocky Patel's or go back to buying your cigars at the corner liquor store.

I know what you mean and agree.... I just wanted to express what I was looking for with what I knew. I know I would be just as wrong with mentioning a Tampa sweet, but I guess I will just order some sample packs until I find one that I like.

Ashton are very nice but may be a bit of sticker shock for a newbie.

The have tins of "cigarillos". 5 mini cigars for around 15 bucks. Just the right length as I don't always feel like devoting 1.5 hours to smoking a cigar.

Also, Arturo Fuente has a cheap ($1-$2) cigar that is made from the leftovers of Ashtons. (I forget what they are called.) They don't burn as nice because they are not made from leaves that run the length of the cigar, but at least you can get the flavor for a fraction of the price.

Partega D series, number 4's... problem is that they are not sold in the good old US right now.

Excellent wrap and nice taste, would work well in a "Clinton application" as well...

If you are looking for sweet tip with no after taste and a mild finish oliveros is the way to go. Hard to find but once found they are great....
