Treehouses?

Here are some pics of the Treehouse I built from some left over parts from my brother-n-laws house building. I built the free form (Trapazoid) deck one week end with the longest 2x8's and 2x10s I had around a big oak tree the kids play around, then sketched up the structure after i gathered enough studs to frame it up.

How are you going to get 4,400lbs up into a treehouse?

1/2" lags will be more than adequate. Almost overkill. I'd be more worried about splitting the tree with that size.

The jacuzzi and pool tables are heavy.

You can build it on stilts, have known several people who have done this. One was basically a two story storage shed, 1st floor was for lawnmowers and stuff, 2nd was for kids. My brother-in-law just built one for his kid, don't know how much six big posts like that go for. My uncle made an A-frame elevated fort like that for his kids. Got four telephone poles and a friend with a crane to set up the frame, built fort on that frame.

I did this for my son, it was about 4 feet off the ground at the rear and 10 feet at the front. I might have a picture somewhere. It was on the side of a hill in the backyard and was approx 4' x 8" in footprint and tall enough for me to stand in.

When the 1st hurricane in 2004 was bearing down on us and I was done shuttering up, I looked up on the hill and thought to myself, " that thing is going to end up taking out my house".

30 minutes later and the use of a chainsaw and sledge hammer and it was in pieces, tucked away against the wall in the garage. I hated to take it down but know it would fly in 100+ MPH winds.
