New Porsche and Omega watches

Bored and got sucked into the Watch Time online page:

Porsche Design Monobloc Actuator: A New Spin on the Racing Chronograph › WatchTime - USA's No.1 Watch Magazine

Love this new Omega, maybe if I hit the lotto because no way I can/would drop that kind of $$$ on a watch... but it is beautiful IMHO

Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean “Big Blue” › WatchTime - USA's No.1 Watch Magazine

PD GMT in matte black if you're ordering extras, please.

The Omega's also pretty cool. I've seen some watches with orange accents that I really like

What, no CF face!

Just went back to look at the PD watch... hey, there are no buttons! What is up with that? Then I watched the video, very cool!

Quoting from the article...

"...a limited-edition model model of the 24H-Chronotimer with a carbon fiber dial will also be available for $7,450."

I applaud the new ceramic material used by Omega but I doubt I'll ever own another Omega watch, assuming I ever buy another watch...

I wonder who is making the watches for PD now. Apart from their collaboration with IWC, they've been made by not-so-fabulous companies.

Both are obnoxiously large, so I'm not a buyer anyway...

again from the article:
"The 45.5-mm ceramic case of the Planet Ocean “Big Blue” is pressed into shape from a special zirconium-based powder..."

Man, for the life of me, I can't understand the current fad of wearing a '50's alarm clock on your wrist. Obnoxiously large indeed.

When PD were producing watches under the Eterna brand, they owned the company. They later sold it. I compare those era watches to Blaupunkt radios during the Robert Bosch years. Solid, well built and innovative design.

The ones they made with IWC were far nicer, in my opinion.

I am inclined to agree with you. But I only held one for a short time. It was the Titan mechanical. I think I like the compass watch, but it's really too bulky to wear.

I wear an Omega Aqua Terra. It has been flawless in the 7 years I have owned it.

^^Like the face design. High contrast, easy to read. Probably why I seem to gravitate to military style watches when looking at watch pics.
