All the most famous Nissan's

I've always had a soft spot for Nissan, the Z, my dream car GTR, the racing heritage, so I was pretty happy when I found this thread...

Well, I didn't see any pics of my little jewel in there... :D

Very cool, nonetheless. I've always wanted to see one of those R390s in person.

It passed my test. I was betting that it wouldn't have the Nissan Group-7 race cars (aka: Can Am rules), but they did!

They're not terribly well known outside of Japan since they almost never competed outside of Japan. While they weren't up to the level of contemporary McLarens, they certainly looked the part!

From what I've read on other forums, this facility is nearly impossible to gain access to, especially if you are a gaijin.

Unfortunately, the report goes on to say that Nissan allowed two groups to enter - one a group of Japanese journalists, and the other a US based Z car club - and some items went missing, so no more tours. These cars do come out for Nissan events on occasion in Japan, but what a shame they are hidden away like this.

Pretty cool collection! Though IMO the late 80s 300ZXs don't deserve a spot there. I've spent a fair amount of time with an 87ZX, an early 90s 240SX and an 05 350Z, and the 300ZX was a POS compared to the rest. Extremely heavy, sluggish, poor handling, crappy transmission, and the electronics were awful - something was always going wrong, sort of like what I've heard people say about early 928s. The 240SX was a bit underpowered, but still a hell of a fun car. The 350Z is an awesome car - nimble, quick, great handling, though nowhere near as well made as a Porsche (brake pads wore out at 16K kms, bad enough to score a rotor badly enough that it needed to be replaced). But Nissan really missed the boat with the 300ZX. Yuck.

As I own a '67 1600 Roadster (Fairlady) and two old Z cars, I am very proud of Nissan's racing heritage. From early on, the company realized that in order to make the world take notice they had to be successful at the track.

I saw this post many weeks ago and the the cars are amazing (understatement!) ...the cars are located in Zama.

Very impressive. For me, the 240Z gives the 911 a run for it's money. When I have the spare cash to again pick up a fun car, it will be a tough choice. Especially considering how cheap they are.

I've also always been a huge Z32 fan. If it weren't for them only having two seats, I would have owned a Z32 300ZX TT. Had an S13 240SX, and while not fast, it was a blast to drive. Absolutely indestructible as well, and trust me, I tried.

My brother is rather fond of his 200 SX turbo, conservatively tuned to some 320 bhp.

The old z-cars are timeless beauties IMO. I'd love to have one someday, in metallic brown.

Komenda Fan 11-12-2007 04:03 PM

Z's are great cars, although I agree with Chris, the first gen 300ZX wasn't much, but then the Z32 made up for that in a hurry.

I actually spent a long time deciding between the 911, which I ended up with, and an early 90's GTR (these can be imported to Canada because of our 15 year rule). Completely different cars, of course, but the GTR has always been a heck of a machine. Unfortunately my father-in-law sold his R34 right before I came to Japan to meet him, but next month he receives one of the first 20 customer GTR's. I'd rush out there to get a ride, but considering all the troubles his daughter and I have had...
