barbados to baja what a year!
yeah right what a year! when the going gets tough............the tough go to baja!
to ring in my 50th b-day year, the decision was made to "BREAK THE FUN BARRIER" at all costs. ie. "HANG THE EXPENSE!" the entire year..........and we have done so in a BIG WAYYY! problems with my older son, my akc lab dying, and a host of other standard run of the mill B.S. that all of us endure seemed to collide all at once this year for me. i guess the pyschological term would be "counterbalance the situation". and we is gonna be counterbalancing it big time on this juan. younger son who has never braved baja is going. a coupla days ago made the suggestion to take score class 8 truck(geiser built). i said "what the hell........it just sits and its basically prepped from the last time we took it to baja." g/friend ended up having to work. this truck ONLY SEES BAJA! i mean it. its an albatross to keep the dual batteries charged and the only daylight it sees is going to work(8 miles). so the other day fine prep began. usually its months prior we know we are taking it. just finished up and filled 44 gallons of av gas in the atl fuel cell and all the other nit nat crap. GPS installed/checked/radar detector/spares/tools/etc. younger son is pumped and we launch at roughly 1pm today fer san flippy(san felipe) when he gets off work. gonna stay at buddies place in san flippy tonight and monyana and race morning(tuesday) get up o-dark thirty and blast from san flippy to JAMU KM 109. as mentioned befo, this is a very fast section. some pitting for some teams with enough manpower or paid pits. we will be hanging at the CHECKERS PITS(you cant be a checker if ya dont have a pecker) and waiting for mi amigos class 1 car and our other amigo in class 7S and of course all the geiser bros in their trophy trucks. really hope bob shepard has a good run this time. his TT is beyond words. now the really coooooool part.............is once all our amigos go by, we split and drive across valle de trinidad(onion capital) and watch them come off sierra martir and mikes sky rancho befo they start heading south into THE BELLY OF THE BEAST or to common folks..............BAJA SUR! my latest intell reflects that the SILT BEDS @ independencia are REALLY REALLY REALLY BAD! took mi amigos 7 HOURS to winch pull tug tow prerunners thru 1000 yards of silt!!! THEY IS BAD! alternate routes thru farmers field have been nixed by farmer planting rebar on his property! this will fer sure "stick it to the" wambee-pampee NEWBIES and NON PRE-RUNNERS! lesson here..............if you dont pre-run or think yer hot sh!!................yer doomed! another bright star as always will be robbie gordon. cant wait to see 'em. talk about running the wheels off of a trophy truck! robbie will out pace the helos across the ground and we have watched this! bell chopper or hughs roughly 145MPH, robbies ground speed............165MPH! so to all of you with cable or sat dish...........it will be on. also numerous live sat-links from various teams showing exact location via sat tracking. soooo ADIOS MI PELI-CANS! another baja on the books. pics to follow. |
