Cool Big Smile-- Spanish king tells Chavez to shut up

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071110/ap_on_re_la_am_ca/chile_summit_spat

I'm glad that someone finally said it.

Quote:
Spanish King Juan Carlos, seated next to Zapatero, angrily turned to Chavez and said, "Why don't you shut up?"

Maybe we should liberate Venezuela next, right after Iran.

So you idolize people who suspend their country's constitution?

The transition would be a lot easier than Iraq (or the former Yugoslavia) since these societies are largely religiously/ethnically homogeneous.

It's not logical, but Chavez may be part Vulcan.

I like my king. Well done!!!!

FWIW Chavez was attacking former Spain's president Aznar (the one with the moustache that was friends with Bush) and our current president (Zapatero, from the other political party) was asking Chavez to stop. Then the King had to shut Chavez up.

Next some other Latin American president in the conference started picking on Spanish companies in his country (I call that investing in another country to create jobs) so the King decided to go get some fresh air and left the conference for a while.

This is the same king who managed the transition from dictatorship to democracy and stopped a coup attempt in 1981. His Majexty has balls!!!!

Have to agree Paco! You have every right to be proud. The King makes Chavez look like what he is, just another two-bit dictator that cannot bring his country out of third-world status in spite of tremendous oil wealth.

Sure is front page news here in Berlin. Glad someone stepped up and shut Chavez up. Even if it was just for a minute...

Being a Cuban born American, I still feel a certain sentimental admiration for all things Spanish; and I mean from Spain thank you.

IT WAS GREAT TO SEE THE KING, TELL THE LITTLE IDIOT TO SHUT THE F UP. GREAT STUFF AND i WILL BE CALLING ALL MY SPANISH FRIENDS TO TELL THEM THEY HAVE A GREAT KING (I have bashed Alonso all year, so I owe them)..

Being that my family had to leave because of a Communism, it is really sad to see that this is happening all over again but to the lovely country of Venezuela.
Problem is that many Venezueleans (I hope I spelled that correctly) support Chavez because he has money to fix "some" social issues.

He is a dictator. He will control the media. He will tell people what to do, say, think. He wants to be elected for life, and he will eventually isolate the world; and we all know that the only people that suffer from this are the normal people.

I have family in Spain. My aunt (America-born) went to Spain on a foreign-exchange trip in the 70's, got married, and never came back. I have three Spanish cousins I have never met--though I do correspond with one cousin over e-mail.

When I read this, I felt immensely proud of my family over there.

Yes, no journalists have attacked the president in the last 7 years, and they fear for their lives if they do.

Keep the fantasy alive.

I was wondering how long it would take for some J-A to try and use this to get a jab at Bush.
Does doing that make you feel better? It doesn't make you sound very good.

Hopefully he goes the way of John Bonham.

I wonder if he's got the coke and whores part down too.

I agree that the system is not perfect here in the good'ole USA, but to compare it in any way to a dictator is just nuts. Now if Bush were in power for 40-50 years, and then he appoints his successer, then you would be right in your comments.

Also the USA has a way of righting some of its wrongs. If we go in the wrong direction, usually the next administration is able to reverse it to some degree (kind of like sailing: pitch and tackle)...

FOR ANYONE that thinks it sucks here, try living over there.
