Jones Beach - New York - Tomorrow? 11/11/2007
Anyone know if there is still a meet-up at Jones Beach this late in the year?
I am considering heading out early tomorrow morning to enjoy my relatively new (2 months) '84 Targa....

no Metro PCA meet that I know of
www.metronypca.org there may be a hot rod meet at the old OBI bar east of JB almost to Captree State Park. If there you can't miss it. It'll be in a large parking lot, beach side, about 2mi before Captree. Guys trailler many cars there to show off. Parking is all but impossible after 8:30am.

no no no
the pic is only a locater for the parking lot. The map area from the left edge to the Causeway heading north is only 1.5mi. The hot rod meet is a small distance to the left of map. The whole area is sand barrier beaches enclosing fish habitat wetlands. the pic is a typical view along the main drag on the sand bar looking out to the ocean.

Jones Beach - New York - 11/11/2007
Spent a few hours at the the lot this morning. Got there around 7:45 and there were over 50 cars. People were coming and going until I left at about 10:00 am. Only about 8 Porsches in a crew of mainly Corvettes, Mustangs, Vipers, American Muscle Cars, with an exotic thrown in here and there.
The drive to the park was fun - though I kept it mild as there are reports of various speed traps. I did get passed by a 911 Turbo at one point which encouraged me to open it up for a few minutes. Let's just say it was the fastest I have driven my car since I got it (a few months back.) The roads are straight - though a bit dippy by the beach. Apparently there is an occasional loss of control by someone not prepared every once in awhile. There is a coffee shop at the lot - so you can warm up and eat. I definitely recommend the trip as the cars are awesome - and this is a weekly thing (at least until they starting putting salt on the ground.)
