I just saw on the news, even the rappers aren't showing suitcases full of dollars in their videos anymore, they are flashin' Euros now! (Seriously!)

inflation

don't believe listed gov't inflation figures. They're rigged to lower SS benefits etc.

I generally figure inflation is 2-3x what they say it is.

$ value is priced on the world market.

The future of the U.S. dollar?

1) No vacations abroad (unless you're into Third World accommodations).

2) Forget about buying a new Mercedes, BMW or whatever.

3) A Canadian will be your new neighbor.

If ya want the $$ to sstrenghten you need to raise interest rates....OHHH WAIT! If you raise interest rates you dry up liquidity all those banks, Hedge Funds etc with sub prime loans on their books just might go BK and since liquidity dried up so has the Stock Market and RE... Ohh you think RE prices have gone down..it will crash and burn...It might make Haitian RE look pricey.

And if the US market crashes and burns you will hear a sucking sound of the Global economy going right down with it.

Now if we let the $$$ continue to fall, foreign investment in the US will dry up as they will continue to lose money on the currency exchange rate. If foreign investment should dry up that means less liquidity and.......all those banks and hedge funds with sub prime loans on the books...Oh wait I just said that didn't I???? OH DEAR WHAT WILL WE DO?????

I don't think it's as bad as all that. The US economy is closely tied to the world economy. As the US economy slows down, other economies will slow too. We will not have a massive grinding halt, but rather a gradual worldwide slowdown, led by the US economy.

The fact that rappers are showing suitcases full of Euros reminds me of the bit of wisdom about the garbage man: "If your garbage man tells you he's invested in xyz, the trend is probably over." Rappers are rarely relied upon as fountains of financial wisdom; perhaps the blind squirrel has found a nut, or perhaps it's time to start putting money back into the value of the dollar.

Sure, I'll sell U.S. Dollars to you cheap, how about you give me only .80 Euro per Dollar? A 20% discount, that's cheap!

How many would you like?

I must be looking at this backwards, the Euro is .68 to the Dollar today.
