Queensland Raceway

Firstly a big thanks to Fishcop John for showing me some wonderful Australian hospitality and having me as a guest at his house - lots of fun.

On sunday we had a pretty wild day at the Queensland raceway. The track went from dry to wet, to covered in 20mm of water, to dry again with mixed results on the driving. However I think some of those wild tail out slides were intentional :)

John's car is a wild little thing that loved the short tight sections of the track - and yes, actually passed a GT3. Mind you the car was so noisy I had to wear earplugs on the return trip to town.

The Queensland Porsche club members were a nice bunch of guys. Everyone very passionate about all Porches. There were quite a number of GT3s including a GT3 Cup car, a GT3 CS R and a GT3 RS lightweight. In the afternoon the drivers were going around asking other drivers and visiting Kiwis! if they would like a passenger ride around the track. Phew that twin turbo 930 backdated look to '73 RSR could move.

And again a big thanks to John for making the Australian holiday such a good time.

Hey Bill

I've been away and only just saw your kind words.

Pelican people have done me quite a few favours over the years and I enjoy reciprocating.

Cheers

I'm going to have to look some of you Aussie's up the next time I'm down under. I have a niece going to school in Melbourne, and good friends in Perth and Gold Coast.

As my friend Prani from Perth says, "Well, at least I can always find you American bastards in the pub. You talk so loud you raise the dead!"

Gold Coast is only 50 minutes down the road, and I'm usually the loudest in the pub ;)

I keep a spare room for guests, and I've always wanted to see Seattle!

Here in America we have our own Queensland..it is called San Francisco.

Hey Tabster

I saw San Fran when I was over there in '04; it was more like Sydney ;)

I'm sure there'd be something for you here too.... buffets, rugs?
