So what's everyone doing for Thanksgiving?

I love the holidays around SoCal because EVERYONE ELSE LEAVES!!! It's great!

I'm going to enjoy a little R&R, a little quality time to get re-acquainted with the wife, clean up the mess called my office at home and hopefully get the 911 back together.

Anyone else doing anything of note/interest? Anyone actually foolish/masochistic to go shopping day after Thanksgiving? Usually I don't leave the house that day. This year won't be any different. 'cept maybe for coffee.

Eating and drinking on turkey day. Continuing the teardown of my engine the other days.

Eating, drinking, and wrenching. Maybe I should eat, wrench and then drink.
Can't wait!!

Dinner at my brother in laws. Then ...after dinner, as deer season opens on Monday and tradition here dictates, we all go out back in the pasture and target shoot our deer rifles. Cool tradition.

I'll be in San Diego with the parents for their final SoCal Thanksgiving. If someone wants to come down and get a beer on Saturday, I'll be around. We could hit the pistol range first!

The wife and I cook and serve diners for homeless people at church. We can eat turkey anytime, but it's nice to give someone who may be going thru some hard times a reason to hope and maybe be thankful for something. This is a great experience and we get more out of it then anyone who we feed.

David,

How'd you make out with the vw rabbit I told you about? If I don't see you, have a safe, ticket-free holiday. Regards, Bob and Jan.

I also like being around here on Thanksgiving when everyone leaves. I hate everyone and hate being around them even more. So when all the stores are closed and the traffic dies down, I'm pretty happy. I waited until 10:00 last night to go to the store for cooking stuff I need for Thurs. I'll clean some guns I dirtied up last weekend and install PIAA lights on my bike. Fri. I will, for the first time since probably high school, step foot in a retail store on Black Friday. But it will be the West Marine store in New Castle, DE on the way to NJ and I'll be there when they open to get my dad's b-day gift. Otherwise, I do all shopping online and make a concerted effort to never buy gifts in malls or retail stores (unless it's porn for stocking stuffers). Oh, and tomorrow night I'll shoot at the NRA Range, since it too will be empty. There's often a one hour wait.

I'm hosting an orphans' Thanksgiving -- all my buddies who have no family/can't travel, etc.

Actually, if you do the baking the night before, Thanksgiving is a really easy meal to cook.

Austin - Reading quickly, I thought you'd written "eating, drinking and wenching". Now that's a holiday tradition I could really get behind, so to speak!

Same as every year - reltives coming in, staying several days, house full of activity food and food and food, at least the Christmas lights will get put up (my Brother likes to do it for us while I sit back, crack a beer and watch).

surf and/or shoot photos at Zuma in the am, avoid my dad in the pm. Supposed to go to a big t-day dinner with a friend of mine but might opt for home alone to write some music. I hate holidays...I am so glad when Jan 2 comes around.

We and our extended family rent a house in Running Springs for the long weekend...the list of grandchildren has grown to 5 (3 provided by me), so the house will contain 8 adults and 5 children...we leave tonight and return on Saturday...very fun! I will then extend MY holiday by one day...I will be golfing Torrey Pines on Monday to get a taste of what the US Open will be like in 2008.

...that being said, I still want to participate in the Thanksgiving run someday; I love Angeles Crest Highway!

I thought the same thing about "wenching", I guess we read what we want to see.

Heading up to Charlotte NC to hang out with the wifes family. Thats the trade off for spending x-mas with my family. Truth is my mom is a much better cook.
