Just keep your stinking low-life hands off my wallet,

Relax, making personal attacks is unbecoming to you. I could care less about your wallet or what's in it. Do you commonly accuse those who hold different political views than you of being pick-pockets and thieves.

and you can think anything you want.

Uh, yes, I am able to do that...?

All you have to do is stop supporting and voting for the tax-raising bleeding heart poverty-pimp politicians and stop trying to spend my money and we will get along just fine.

If I "have" to agree with every detail of your politics to "get along just fine" with you...well, I'm basically a friendly type but don't take well to being dictated to so I guess we're at a stalemate regarding that issue.

Also, you have no idea of my perspective on specific issues or how I vote. I may agree with you on a number of issues; would that shock you beyond belief?

I personally don't like it when the government takes $48k a year out of my paycheck so they can spend it on welfare scum or drug addicts (sounds like you are well familiar with that).

More unfounded assumptions.

You bleeding hearts think it is a good idea to support those who are too lazy or low-life to support themsleves?
Then you pay for them. Just don't do it with my money.

I dunno about the "bleeding hearts" that you refer to, but no, I think that stinks as much as you do.

What's next, are you going to suggest that I am well off because I was lucky or privileged?

Absolutely not. I have zero interest in your financial state or whether or not you're lucky or priveledged. Why would I?

That's standard operating procedure in the democrat manual but it's not even close.

Well, one's interpretation of that manual (haven't read it) will certainly vary from reader to reader or everone might be a Democrat, no?

I started working as a mechanic when I was 20. I worked hard, went back to school, and worked my way up to be a successful engineer and established a strong rep in a tough business.
The only privilege I had was parents with morals who taught me to work hard and if I wanted something I should go out and earn it.
I was taught that those who worked hard were rewarded and those who did not put in the effort would do without.
Too bad that's not a very popular notion anymore.

That is, sincerely, laudable and I agree that there are many today who have not had that quality of upbringing (which I had as well) and that is indeed lamentable.

I started working as a paper boy at about 12 years old and have never drawn unemployment or been on welfare since. When I returned from Viet Nam I put myself through six years of college with the help of my then wife, the G.I. bill, parking cars on the midnight shift on weekends at a big hotel during the school year and dumping garbage cans into the back of city garbage trucks with other motivated college students in the summers. Taught a few courses, started two small business and ended up going to work at a job that I held for 23 1/2 years.

A slightly different background than yours, but not totally dissimilar in terms of honest effort and a good work ethic, wouldn't you agree?

Instead of wasting my money trying to keep up with the jones or spending it faster than it came in, I SAVED it and INVESTED it. I bought a house and was very careful with every dollar. Now that house is almost paid for and I don't need to work anymore. I still work only because I want to.
No one gave me squat, I earned every bit so I think I'm justified in wanted to keep it and not give it to a bunch of poser-idealistic morons.

Your above paragraph could have, word for word, been written by me because that is EXACTLY my situation (not giving a cent to poser-idealistic morons included)!

Where we disagree is based on your seeming inclination to see things much more in black and white than I do. While your rants may irritate me, you certainly strike me as an intelligent guy, but one who chooses not to look in depth at the issues that enrage you.

In all sincerity, I feel that if you looked at all sides of those enraging issues (hey, I got a bunch of them myself!) you would have MUCH more to say and that you would better serve your political beliefs by expressing yourself clearly and logically rather than resorting to vitriolic name calling and sloganism, which of course does nothing but further alienate those with whom you disagree and accomplishes...nothing (see how angry my vitriol made you? :)).

Cheers,

David
ps, best put yer wallet in yer front pocket when I'm around :D.
