Say bye, bye milt

My monitor stops working even though I did the settings for NEVER on all. So, now I have to kill the power to reboot. I don't need these problems at this stage in life. So, I'm done for now. Good bye.

slodave 11-23-2007 10:24 PM

Let's meet up this week and I'll try and help.

Dave

Agreed.
OS X is great and if you install Windows, you can boot into XP whenever you need it.
The best of both worlds.

Gogar 11-24-2007 01:05 AM

I don't even know what you're talking about.

OSX out.

Porsche-O-Phile 11-24-2007 02:41 AM

Bwahahahaha! I see the conspiracy by the local chapter of Long Beach Pilots and Aviation Enthusiasts succeeded at its mission to silence your criticism! Their bold plan to sneak into your house ninja-style and disable your method of communicating to the world about them has succeeded! Now they will fly circles around you at low altitude with impunity! Bwahahahaha!!!

Milt will not go Mac.

He has been adamant about that.

kstar 11-24-2007 07:29 AM

I just got my almost 80 year old Grandpa a new iMac running Leopard . . . to replace his 8 year old iMac running OS9! It's amazing what happens in 8 years in the computer world . . .

He isn't even aware the of the Mac vs. PC attitude wars, he just likes what the Mac can do and the ease of use.

I just got my MacBook 2 weeks ago, and it is incredible. Best computer I've ever owned by far.

I think I see the problem...

Sorry to hear of your pain Milt.

Don't be too sure. :D

BTW, I found something in the monitor menu that may not have been in sync with the power options in the computer. We'll see.

However, I'm bound and determined to get this computer cleaned up from all the preloaded games and crap that I will never use. And, I found a gaggle of Trend Micro files this morning that won't uninstall. WTF? I thought that's what I did yesterday.

I'm really confused.

Once you go Mac, you'll never go back.

I'm constantly amused by the resistance some folks have to a troublefree computer experience.

My Dell, which I only use to play games and run PET, finally gave up completely this week. Got it new about 4 years ago and had many periods of stability, punctuated by corruption, and unreliability. I had it behind a router, but eventually took it off the 'net. I could never do actual work on a Windows machine.

Moneyguy1 11-24-2007 11:01 AM

Bound and determined.....

Constipated and stubborn?

Shaun @ Tru6 11-24-2007 11:37 AM

What do you use your computer for Milt?

livi 11-24-2007 12:33 PM

I think old Zeke has gone 'Matrix' on us. Look out. :D

And we are constantly amused by the guys who keep trying to get others to leave the Windows platform for an OS that has 1% the programs of the Windoz OS!

I have used a Dell laptop on the road for over 10 years with no hassles, connected to the internet in wonderful places like Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Kabul, Baghdad, Riyadh along with garden spots like Bogota or Johannesburg and so on. Absolutely NO hassles what so ever.

Guess I got a duff computer that works and all the rest of the guys with a DOS/Windows machine that has problems is the norm?

A well setup computer, using ANY OS will usually work fine, while one that is not properly setup will give problems. How about that and ending the bias that you guys have against anything other than Mac?

. . . snip . . .

For 99% of people, this is an irrelevant (and probably inaccurate) statistic.

Feature for feature a Mac computer cost about the same as a PC and Macs run Windows in virtualization (not emulation!) if you have some critical piece of software that only runs on Windows.

In case you didn't notice, significant numbers of folks are actually switching to Mac and very happy about it. Vista is providing plenty of good reasons.

Apple is here and will probably pass up MSFT in size in a couple of years. Get used to us. :D

This is 2007, not 1997 BTW.

Best,

Kurt:cool:

Exactly. There's no PC vs. Mac "attitude" war, it's just (some) arrogant Mac users always yapping on how PC sucks. It's that condecending tone that every Mac users takes that I can't stand. Those people are the exact reason why I'll never own a Mac; not because PC is better than Mac, but I just don't want to be associated with any of them.

If software incompatibility was all I wanted, I'd use Linux (which is what I have running on my 133Mhz Pentium 1 desktop).

Sorry to hear your problems, Milt. It's not too terribly difficult to install a fresh copy of Windows XP. Probably easier to start with a fresh copy than to remove all the junk that's already there. Too bad I'm not close enough to give you a hand. Could it be a hardware issue? Do you have a spare monitor to test it with?
