Ordering new paper checks, does this bother you?
I have a bunch of my bills set up for auto pay via credit card - cell phone, car payment, mortgage, etc.
But there are still a few things I pay with old school paper checks - water & power, gas company, phone company (land line), etc. So I get those check reorder things in the mail (oh gee, I can get Dilbert pattern checks!) and I have actually used them before with no bad effects. But I can't get over the idea that... I'm handing over my name and address, checking account number, and checking routing number. Does anyone else feel weird about doing this? And of course now you can order checks on-line, anyone do that? And yes I know all you youngins are thinking; "Pfft! Paper checks? Land line? Go to your cave and die old man the age of dinosaurs is over!" :D |
Think about it... every time you use a check (to pay a bill, pay for items in a store, at a garage, etc) you hand over the same information. I see no difference between this and ordering new checks.

We order checks through our bank...pick them up AT the bank. Mail box theft has happened in my neighborhood...

There have been plenty of people who have stolen a check, and then used the information to order check only changing the last name, because they got married. Then they call the check company to tell them they printed the wrong first name and it should be....
Anyway, I'd buy from the bank or COSTCO. I don't think we've re-ordered checks from when we opened out accounts. We use so few these days, electronic bill paying, debit/credit cards for the rest, etc, that only my wife uses them. |

HAHAHA ... bank checks...
Costco checks for sure .. limited designs, but who cares ... you give them away anyway. |
Who will take you seriously if you have Tweety Bird checks?
Geez, get the cheapest ones you can get! The only thing I do is get the duplicate checks, where you are left with a carbon copy of the check. |
