I've been fairly happy with DirectTV for a few years now.

Having had them for a while and just purchased an HDTV about a year ago I called them up to ask for an upgrade to an HD Receiver.

When I got the CSR on the phone I started out saying "This is your chance to keep a customer." And she was very nice, I told her that I was happy with my service but wanted to upgrade to an HD receiver. The local cable co offered me that service for the same amount I was paying now; would DTV send me an HD Receiver (which also required a Dish upgrade) for free to keep me as a subscriber.

She said...



"Yes, and we'll take the $10 fee for the HD service off of your bill for 24 months." I did have to agree to an additional 24 months of service contract but seeing as I own my house and don't plan to move for the foreseeable future I did not mind it.

Anyway, I don't have trouble recommending DirectTV to anyone as they have been a very good service and good to us.
