Need Auto HVAC Repair: NE Atlanta

My Jeep needs the heater core replaced, having trouble finding someone willing to do the work.

Is there a particular excuse/reason you are getting about getting it done? I've replaced about 3 in different vehicles. It's not difficult - just takes some time.

Step 1 Remove the ENTIRE dash from the firewall, and set on the front seats.

Been there done that, don't want to go back. It's a good thing my best friend works at a Jeep dealership. He sat back and gave me pointers, and drank my beer.

Nice guy huh?

Hi Mark-

I'm getting a funky smell from the heater, and some fog on the windshield over the defrost vents. I also appear to be losing some coolant. No evidence of a leak inside however.

I suppose I could try and tackle it myself, but I wanted an honest estimate before weighing my options.

I know it's one of those 10% part and 90% labor deals. I could save a ton by doing the work myself, that's for sure.

Yeah, from what I hear no one would want to go through with it again. Which is why I can't find a shop willing!

I did a Google search - I don't recall the exact year/model of your Cherokee, but appears some models require the AC to be evacuated! No wonder no-one wants the job!

Pssst! Hey Mark- the year/model is right there in my signature!

Yes- I hear that an evac is required.

Should I just part the thing out?
