winter hobbies - slot cars

I've got a couple of nice Porsche slot cars coming in soon.

With this digital set I can have up to 3 other cars running independently while I try to catch them.

Fun stuff

Cool.
My Mom said I could come over to your house tomorrow.
Did I mention that you are my best friend?

Man, I better stay away from these slot cars or I could be heading toward another expensive hobby.
Nice setup.

Which porsches are you getting? My favorite is Brian Redmonds 908-3 Targa Del Floria.

I've decided to make my basement the "my oasis of hobby".

Lots of Porsche posters.

Walls to be painted a nice grey

I'm going to hand paint a crest on the wall.

Spend too much money building a classic Porsche Slot car collection.

Some might call me a geek....

but I've got a sweet 911 SC to keep me "in" with the cool kids

I'm starting my P-car collection on the "cheap".

Monogram 550 Spyder

Ninco 934

Ninco 996 4 wheel rally

Ninco 911 with rally lights and a ducktail

Other cars on their way:

Subaru 4 wheel drive
BMW 70s racer

After a few months, I'll start dipping into the "FLY" model pool....watch out Visa card

Are the 4 wheel drive cars actually 4 wheel drive? that would be cool.

Yeah, you suck - I have little enough money thanks to wayne without guys like you coming up with ideas.

Have you checked out Fantasy Hobbies. They have a great web site with reviews and modification information.

I guess I'm kind of excited about collecting slots. Static models are great but slots seems more fun.

You know whats weird?

As a kid I used to think that Porsch racers were boring.

Now as a P-Car owner, I understand the extremes of their designs and the beauty of their simplistic and clean designs

Chesapeake Region is having their annual Super Slot Car Night on January 28th. We set up a replica of Summit Point. I believe it's 10x20 with four lanes. The region bought the track from a hobby store that was going out of business. We rent a bunch of 8 foot tables to sit it on. It's great, the tables aren't always the exact same height. Small variations, but enough to creat elevation changes sometimes. We even do 100 lap enduros with four person teams.

Very cool winter hobby indeed.

Slot cars are way cool. I used to race them back in the late 60's. Rewinding the armatures with silver wire and silver brushes, and way way to much money, but way cool. The tires got to be really stickey, the cars Really fast. Went to NYC just to run on a slot car track there.

Now I get off spending WAY to much money on real Porsches, not enough left for the slots, but great memories. Best hobbie I could dream of.

I picked up a cheap AFX 25' setup at a discount store a few years back and was looking for an HO scale carrera on the net but no luck. It sure is a terrific time-waster for a 35 buck investment. My cats are fascinated with it and some of the chicks dig it too. It looks like your setup is much more elaborate.

Slantnose6, I dont think your maid went on vacation, I think she died. Anyway, nice set. I've got tons of track, cars, etc up in the attic just waiting for the day I can set it up. It's HO scale, and I've got a few newer cars for it. I used to be into HO trains, but they got kind of boring. If I can get a good base, I can have any kind of track I want, maybe my wife will race me.

scale in 1/32. track sets are a combination of an F1 Carrera pro-x and a Carrera Nurburgring.

Combined they cost me about $350 US

Havin fun.

Toughest thing is trying to set up all the track pieces in the restricted area that I have
