There are some people who shouldn't drink.

There are some people who shouldn't drive.

There are some people who shouldn't own guns.

There are some people who shouldn't be alive.

Pretty simple.

if he really wanted to "go out in style" he should have done a swan-dive, with a triple gainer, off the third floor balcony in full dress and a top hat.

Porsche-O-Phile 12-05-2007 03:32 PM

Probably not gettin' access to enough cratch.

bivenator 12-05-2007 03:34 PM

What a POS, to inflict as much damage to complete strangers because he couldn't get it together. I work in a mental health field, there are more of these time bombs out there.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the families.

slakjaw 12-05-2007 03:37 PM

This is bull****!

Lets take his whole family out of the gene pool!

West roads mall has security, but I think they are only armed with flashlights. I am still trying to get ahold of friends and family right now.

bump

I grew up in Omaha, and I used to go to Westroads Mall to see Santa during Xmas. It's just weird to see this.

Reminds me of when I was watching Columbine happen on TV. I had just moved from that area of Denver around 2 years before that.

Violence of this sort doesn't seem to phase me that much out here in LA, but when it happens in the most mundane locations of your past... uhmm.. yeah.

livi 12-05-2007 11:59 PM

Further paving the road for imbecile people claiming restrictions on fire arms, I suppose.. :p

red-beard 12-06-2007 12:06 AM

Unfortunately, true.

It was a terrible deal - I actually know a lot of people who were in the maill at the time.

By the same token, there wasn't much that probably could have been done. The shooting was over and done with pretty quickly, then the shooter killed himself. Unless there was a CCW person right there, it wouldn't have made a difference.

Another example of someone tipping over - it's unfortunate it had to be during the holiday season, because the mall would have had about one quarter the shoppers at that time of day any other time of year.

My barber had a good analogy (if they could just run the world, right?) - he said it's like a tornado or hurricane going through. It's tragic that people had to lose their lives, but there's nothing that could have reasonably been done to avert, and no reasonable way to avoid it happening again. If someone going to tip over, there isn't much you can do.

Let's ask a few questions to his parents. What did they know about thier screwed up kid. Did they know he had guns? Did he play vilent video games? Did he kill his puppy? Was he a school dropout? Just wondering if there were any signs of this before it happened.

He wasn't living with his parents. He was living with friends. Yes, he had dropped out of school.

red-beard 12-06-2007 05:51 AM

Yes he was a felon and took drugs. He was recently arrested for alcohol possesion and was due in court in 2 weeks.

URY914 12-06-2007 05:53 AM

I'd still like his parents to be put in the hot seat and be asked some questions, but my guess is that they are POS too.

The kid is probably right; he will be famous (or infamous). I'm of the belief that when things like this happen, the press shouldn't be allowed to print the a-holes name or picture.

I started to type that if the press wanted to show a picture of the shooter, show one with his brains on the ceiling and not the clean cut, good ol' boy pic, but I guess that's not right either.

I still think these are copy cats who see the press that the shooters before them get and want that image posthumously.

Palum6o 12-06-2007 06:19 AM

This is total madness...

As, Stephan Wilkinson once wrote an article about saving gas by shopping via the internet, I guess you can also save your life as well. Absolutely pathetic...

Rikao4 12-06-2007 06:20 AM

David is right..refer to him as loser..not name, show his carcass..

Lets take his whole family out of the gene pool!

There are a lot of mental illnesses, including depression, over which parents have zero control.

Do you think anyone of the nine went out happy??? Did any of the nine dead gain anything from this?

s_wilwerding 12-06-2007 07:14 AM

Just found out one of my father's good friends was one of the ones killed. He and his wife were shopping, heard the shooting, took cover behind a chair, the shooter saw them, and shot the husband in the head. The wife thought she was next, but for some reason he didn't shoot her. Both were members of my father's church group.

It's times like these that sometimes you wish the shooter hadn't killed himself, and that you could make him suffer like he made those innocent people (and now their grieving families) suffer. At least he's not alive to become a national celebrity, being interviewed on Larry King, the Today Show, etc. That's one thing we can thank our media for is turning terrible people like this into celebrities.
