Whipping post-maybe its time to bring it back

Justice should be swift and sure. Our justice system is neither swift nor sure. Maybe a whipping post every few exits on the highway would help to make drivers more polite and pay attention.

Our justice system is a huge misnomer. It has very little to do with justice.

'Our justice system is a huge misnomer. It has very little to do with justice'

Most peop;le don't understand that. You go to court to get the law, not to get justice.

maybe a bit severe, however i am all for stocks and pillories. i like the idea of ridicule better than a cat o' nine tails for minor offenses.

That is the problem with society today. We have taken the shame out of bad behavior and instead claimed those exhibiting such behavior are victims. Shame is a far more effective motivator for changing behavior than the law.

I would even go so far to argue that this is the most effective aspects of religion: it keeps people behaving properly. People do not fear laws. They are created by other people. People do fear punishment from God. People especially fear public embarrassment. Think about it. What is the most common phobia in the U.S.? Public speaking. Embarrassing oneself in front of their peers.

Well when the church says that you can do anything you want and then come back and confess and afterwards say a few "Hail Mary's" and its all ok, you have a society like this.

How about not sinning in the first place??? No thats not going to happen so we make it now that you can do anything and get away with it afterwards.

It has to stop some day and hopefully its soon...
