It also depends on the type of movie watcher you are. For instance i've never watched a movie more than once except for "Young Frankenstein", "Space Balls", and "Blazing Saddles". So at 30 bucks a pop to purchase the movie in HD, and all the investment needed to upgrade your electronics to be HD compatible, it seems for me it's cheaper to pay the 9 bucks and go watch it at a theater. Granted i also don't buy the overly priced garbage sold at the concession stands, i can actually go through a 2 hour movie and not eat/drink something.

I'm just waiting for HD DVDR's to get cheaper then I will jump on the bandwagon with a player and burner.

Why buy them when you can Netflix and 'backup'.

On another note, I LOVE my DVR at home. Now this is a great device. I have 10-20 programs always in storage for when there is nothing on TV. Also great to pause live stuff, etc, etc...

i'm probably in the minority with this thought but i don't want to see a cleaned up, hdified version of my favorite old movies. all the presidents men was on recently and my wife and i remarked at how it looked 'cleaned up' and had lost a lot of its appeal. same would go for lemans, blazing saddles, rear window, etc.

So you're out $50 total (counting the $20 you gave the train engineer)? That's bargain entertainment...
