Thought I'd throw in an end-of-season report here, 4 years later :)

After breaking my rib (really messed up my racing), I was pretty scared to get back on the board. Skied a bit here and there and tried the boarding once each winter. I had no confidence and was terrified of catching a downhill edge. Weaksauce.

Then, this past winter, I decided to give it a fair shake, especially since I have no motorbike racing going on, and who cares if I break more bones. So, I geared up with an awesome chest protector, tough padded shorts and wrist guards and went for it. I've only rode 4 times this winter, but have made huge progress and am now carving aggressively and having a blast. It was a great season on the mountain and can't wait to get back up there next year. Next up, adjusting my stance with more angle.

Anyone else boarding?

So, where did you take the pick? We didn't have much snow this season at L Tahoe this year. I only skiied 8 times compaaired to 35 last season.

GDuke, it's really sucked .. was thinking of putting the ski's up as I cleaned the garage today.

Our local mountain, Red Lodge. In Nov/Dec, we had the best snow in the country, so we had people from all over here. It was a crazy, record-breaking season for us.

Here is some more of his hand rail skills. He has won a few comps. and would love to do it full time, but I want him to finish his mech. eng. degree at RIT first. He is now making his own boards, and selling them as well.

I'm surprised you don't make him wear a helmet.
Up here you are not allowed on the terrain parks without one.

Geary 04-08-2012 03:05 PM

Been riding since '85 (150+ days last season), and have for all this time resisted wearing a helmet .. until last Sunday, that is. I finally had that nasty crash that I can't believe I walked away from. I'll always wear & recommend helmets from now on.
